Anne stood face to face with Clara, seeing the quiet challenge in the latter's glimmering eyes.
"Thanks for your concern Clara, but I'm more concerned about you." Anne said, by the time she had come close, the quiet gossips of the women had lessened significantly.
Clara frowned slightly, this wasn't how she expected Anne to react. The words she expected Anne to say were entirely different, and she couldn't understand how Anne could always maintain to keep her cool even after such blatant provocation.
"What do you mean?" Clara struggled to continue holding up her calm facade just because she was extremely surprised at Anne's reaction of talking so calmly.
Anne moved closer and carefully placed her hand on Clara's shoulder. Just as Clara had played the part of a loving and supportive friend, Anne put on the same facade.
