Kalisa's eyes flickered with uncertainty, but also with something sharper. It was the resolve to stay alive. She drew in a slow breath, her mind already racing through possibilities. It is either they fight their way through or be killed for holding both keys.
"We could destroy them," she offered. "Throw them into the ocean, make sure no one ever uses them."
Lisa shook her head immediately. She was sure she only spoke from a position to see that they were safe. She did not understand why Kalisa would want to throw away something this powerful.
"You don't destroy something like this. You control it, you use it. If we don't, someone else will. And believe me, there are people out there, Kalisa, men I used to know, men I helped take down, who would burn the whole city to ash to get their hands on what you have."
