The attractive boy walked away, leaving Veronica thinking about his flirtatious words.
The image of his blue eyes and his smile carved into her mind.
There was something about him that was extremely alluring.
The door opened behind her and a skinny blonde woman in a red floral dress stepped out.
" You must be Veronica. You can come right in. Tiffany's upstairs. " The woman lead her through the hall and upstairs.
There were flower pots every where , plants and a whole lot of abstract paintings on the wall.
It was obvious that someone with good taste had decorated the place.
Veronica looked around as she passed by the paintings then they went up stairs in silence.
" Hola , Veronica. My names Lucas." A tall tanned boy greeted her and she smiled politely.
" Veronica , this is Tiffany's cousin . He's Brazilian."
" Nice to meet you , Lucas. You go to school around here as well ?"
" Yes , you're kinda hot. Can I get your number." Lucas asked and the older lady scowled at him.
" This isn't the time for that, Lucas. Veronica and Tiffany are both grieving. Go do your homework and leave her alone. " The older woman said and Lucas smiled mischievously , moving away from them.
He went to his room.
The woman lead Veronica to a room with a white door.
" This is Tiffany's room. She's been crying nonstop for hours. " The woman said and then she knocked the door.
" Hey,Tiffany. Veronica's here to see you." She shouted and there was the sound of sobbing and footsteps coming from the room.
" I'm coming Aunt Silvie. " Tiffany said sobbing.
She opened her door , her face wet with tears and mascara running down her face.
She was wrapped in a fluffy blanket and her room was a mess. She probably broke everything in her room in anger when she realized that Jess was really gone.
She broke down in tears infront of Veronica and Veronica pulled her into a tight hug , rubbing her back gently.
" I'm so sorry about what happened to your boyfriend. He didn't deserve that. I'm so sorry about everyone. " Veronica told her and she just cried even harder.
" You girls can call me if you need anything. " Aunt Silvie told them and she walked away leaving the girls to talk in private.
They went into Tiffany's room and just sat there started at each other without another word.
There were pictures of Jess all over her room and a candle lit on her nightstand.
" Veronica, something killed them. I know this sounds crazy but It wasn't a human being. " Tiffany said , her hands trembled as she spoke.
She was traumatized, she sat on the floor in the midst of the chaos that was her room and Veronica tried to say the right thing but she doubted Tiffany.
" Listen I know it's hard Tiffany , but what could have possibly killed them ? " Veronica asked and Tiffany screamed and cried at the same time.
Veronica hugged her tightly.
" A demon ripped them to shreds . My Jessie! My poor Jess ! Oh God ! The sweetest boyfriend I ever had. " She shook her head , crying.
" Good guys like him don't deserve to die." Tiffany said bitterly and Veronica finally understood how deeply in love Tiffany was with Jess before he died.
This is what true love felt like ? And if it hurts that bad when you're true love dies then maybe falling in love wasn't worth it.
" There plenty of fish in the sea , Tiffany. " Veronica tried to assuage her friends misery and reached out to hold her shoulder but Tiffany slapped her hand away aggressive.
She stood up angrily.
" Well that was the only fish that I want and he's dead now." Tiffany's face crumbled with pain and she bent over , holding her stomach as she cried and screamed.
The night dragged on and eventually Tiffany cried herself to sleep.
Veronica laid on the bed beside her to keep her company then when morning came Veronica got up and woke Veronica.
" Thank you for bring here for me." Tiffany said , her voice calmer but still sad.
" I couldn't leave you like that Tiffany. We're friends and no real friend would leave you when you're sad."
There was knocking on the door .
" I got your breakfast. " Lucas voice came from the door and Tiffany went to open it.
Lucas stood there with a tray of food in his hand .
" This is for you and Veronica. " Lucas said and his eyes scanned the room to see Veronica laying on the bed.
He smirked.
" What you looking at clown ? " Tiffany asked Lucas and he smirked.
" You're friend's hot. " He said and Tiffany took the tray of food from him and slammed the door shut in his face.
Veronica sat up in bed as Tiffany approached her.
She gave the tray to Veronica and took a plate with eggs and toast off the tray . She sat on the floor and started eating.
" I can't believe tomorrow's a school day." Veronica said.
" Yea. Your first day at our school.. I can't believe I have to go to school after losing my boyfriend. What a bummer ." Tiffany said and she continued to eat her breakfast.
" What you planning to do today ? " Veronica asked and Tiffany sighed.
" Maybe gardening." She said and Veronica nodded.
" I might stay here with you today." Veronica said and Tiffany smiled.
" I wouldn't mind having some company here today, Ver ." Tiffany said to her friend and they sat around eating all the food on the train , sharing , trading and mixing different food items as they did.
Veronica and Tiffany finished all the food , placed the tray on the nightstand and Veronica laid back down on the bed , scrolling on her phone until she heard a ping come in.
' Hi it's Alex. ' The message read and she started texting him.
Veronica : Hi Alex. What are you up to today ?
Alex : I'd like to take you out on a date this evening.
Veronica : I really like you but I'm keeping Tiffany's company until she feels better. She's still mourning the loss of her boyfriend.
Alex : Don't worry about that. Tiffany will be ok. Her boyfriend loves her very much.
Veronica : How can I not worry about it, Alex ? Tiffany is traumatized and she's my friend. Yes I know her boyfriend loves her but he's dead. I'm not gonna leave her alone.
" Ver , who are you texting? " Tiffany asked after getting annoyed by the constant pinging sound that was coming from Veronica's phone.
" Oh it's nobody. Just get some rest ,Tiffany. " Veronica said and she turned down her phone.
Veronica opened her messages again and saw a new text from Alex.
Alex : Bring Tiffany outside.
' This boy's cute and all but why does he seem like a huge jerk ? ' Veronica wondered
She sighed frustrated and got up .
" Tiffany let's go outside for a walk. " Veronica suggested and the girls brushed their teeth, took turns washing up then headed downstairs.
The doorbell rang and Tiffany opened the door.
Jess was ALIVE and he was standing right infront of her with red roses in his hand.
Alex stood , smirking behind him.
Tiffany was shocked and surprised but she was extremely happy.
" H - how are you here right now ? I saw you you were - " Tiffany asked shocked as hell.
Tears formed in her eyes as she smiled at the boy infront her.
" Aren't you gonna give your boyfriend a hug ? " Jess asked Tiffany and she ran into his arms , hugging him tightly.
" I guess the people here do actually like playing sick pranks. " Veronica remarked then she walked over to Alex leaving the couple behind her to swoon over each other.
" So this is why you wanted me to bring Tiffany outside ? Alex how long did you know that Jess was still alive ? " Veronica demanded and Alex shook his head.
" He was dead when I found him. I brought him back to life because I couldn't stand seeing someone lose their lover like that." Alex said and Veronica shook her head.
" Stop playing dumb pranks on people. I'm being serious right now. "
" It wasn't a prank." Alex argued and Veronica glared at him.
" How long did you know that Jess was still alive ? Tell me the truth or I'll stop talking to you. " Veronica warned Alex and his blue eyes widened.
" He was dead. I brought him back to life ." Alex said and Veronica walked away from him angrily.
" You're really immature. you know that ,right ?" She stormed away from the blue eyed boy and he followed her.
" Veronica ! Please don't go I need to talk to you. " Alex shouted and Tiffany and Jess turned around to stare at him.
Veronica was now out of his sight and he was feeling heartbroken.
He was now in a forest behind the houses looking for Veronica.
He scanned the place as he walked deeper and deeper into the forest.
He smelled her scent and approached quickly but when he finally saw her she was far ahead of him and a large brown monster with long limbs stood right infront of her.
Alex was angry and devastated.
Veronica just stood there frozen in fear
