Chapter 265 - Iron Man Almost Died… Again

"I don't know."

After a moment of deep thought, T'Challa gave this simple answer.

It was, admittedly, rather unexpected.

T'Challa trusted the other two tribal leaders of Wakanda implicitly—but when it came to his own uncle… he said he didn't know?

Something clearly didn't add up.

"When I was very young, my uncle was sent on a mission by my father. But later, my uncle disappeared. I never saw him again."

"To be honest, I barely remember anything about my uncle. Sometimes, when I see old photos of him, I even feel like he's a stranger."

"All I remember is that I had an uncle. That's it."

It made sense—when N'Jobu was sent out by T'Chaka, T'Challa was just a child. And over the years, most memories of his uncle had faded.

"Disappeared?" Captain America furrowed his brows, immediately sensing the crux of the matter. "T'Challa… are you saying your uncle disappeared?"

A prince disappearing?

It sounded absurd.

"Yes." T'Challa nodded heavily. "I asked my father about him, but he didn't want to say much—just that my uncle had disappeared."

"A prince disappearing… everyone, something is clearly wrong here!" Scott Lang quickly spoke up. "I think the answer has to be N'Jobu. Maybe he was caught stealing vibranium and then exiled from Wakanda?"

"Otherwise, if it were some accident, your father would've explained clearly instead of just saying 'disappeared.'"

Not only Scott Lang, but everyone present also began to suspect N'Jobu.

Both the mysterious disappearance and King T'Chaka's handling of the matter raised serious doubts.

T'Challa's expression darkened slightly.

Comparing the options, his uncle was indeed the prime suspect—something even he had to acknowledge.

Moreover, T'Challa recalled other details.

The peak period of vibranium theft happened twenty or thirty years ago—the very era when his uncle was active.

This made the suspicion even more credible.

However, accepting this emerging truth was hard for T'Challa.

"It seems T'Challa has made a decision," Tony Stark said, glancing at him. "T'Challa, this question concerns you—so answer it."

T'Challa paused for a moment, then spoke: "I choose D. N'Jobu."

[Correct Answer!]

T'Challa's expression darkened further—he really didn't want this to be the answer.

[Congratulations! T'Challa has received the reward skill: Hole Wave!][Reward has been delivered—please check your system.]

With the system prompt, the details of the "Hole Wave" skill were imprinted into T'Challa.

"Hole Wave?" Scott Lang's curiosity peaked. "That's a weird name—what does it do?"

"It's an attack skill," T'Challa explained.

He raised his right hand and pointed a finger. Immediately, powerful energy surged along it, and a brilliant golden light erupted from his fingertip.

"It's glowing! T'Challa's finger is glowing!" Scott Lang exclaimed, astonished.

"Why do all these attack skills have special effects?" Tony Stark couldn't resist commenting.

Captain America's energy waves were similar—now T'Challa's Hole Wave also had a flashy visual.

Although it looked amazing, wasn't this like announcing a big attack? Wouldn't opponents have time to defend?

A sharp whoosh rang out as T'Challa's fingertip unleashed a golden beam toward the ground.

Inside the quiz space, the ground was an abstract white plane—neither fully matter nor fully energy. The beam dissipated upon contact.

Even so, the sheer presence of the Hole Wave demonstrated its immense power.

"Wow! So this Hole Wave is a beam attack—basically like carrying a laser gun!" Scott Lang shouted excitedly.

"This attack consumes a lot of stamina. You can't use it many times," T'Challa warned.

With enhancements, he could use it several times, but without them, a single use would exhaust him.

Still, the skill was extremely potent—perfect for crucial moments.

[Quiz completed. Begin answer analysis!]

The system activated, displaying images on a large screen.

"Listen, as long as we move quickly, there'll be no problem."

In a dim, messy room, two men were discussing plans.

"You drive the train from the west, turn the corner, and stop there!"

"My twin and I will leave the car here—it's no longer needed. Understood? Then we…"

During their discussion, their faces became fully visible.

Others could only guess—one of them had to be T'Challa's uncle, N'Jobu.

But T'Challa immediately recognized him—the man explaining the plan was his uncle N'Jobu.

He had seen old photos of young N'Jobu with T'Chaka.

The other man, Zuri, was also recognizable—now a prominent figure in Wakanda.

Could Zuri also be involved in smuggling vibranium?

T'Challa's expression darkened further.

"Move fast? Train?"

Stephen Strange's voice sounded: "Sounds like they're discussing transporting something… could it be vibranium?"

Although phrased as a question, he spoke with certainty.

Everyone present shared the same suspicion. The images clearly showed N'Jobu collaborating with another—what they were planning was obvious.

On the screen, N'Jobu suddenly sensed something and stopped speaking.

"Put the guns away!"

He moved to the window, opening the blinds, watching carefully. Outside, nothing seemed amiss—his son played in the square below, as usual.

"Is it the police?" Zuri asked, putting his gun away.

"No," N'Jobu shook his head gravely.

Knock knock knock!

Someone knocked at the door.

Zuri cocked his gun, suspicious, and looked through the peephole. "Two girls outside—look like Grace Jones—and they have spears."

T'Challa immediately realized—the visitors were his father, T'Chaka, with the royal guards.

Even N'Jobu's face changed slightly; he had realized the same.

"Open the door!" N'Jobu ordered Zuri.

"Are you sure?" Zuri hesitated.

"They won't knock next time," N'Jobu said meaningfully.

Zuri opened the door. Two women in red dresses, bald heads, and spears entered, radiating authority.

"Who are you?" one asked in Wakandan.

"I'm Prince N'Jobu, son of Zuri!" N'Jobu replied.

"Prove you are one of us!" the woman demanded.

N'Jobu didn't hesitate. He pulled down his lip to reveal a silver barcode inside his mouth.

Though Stark and Cap didn't understand Wakandan, it was clear he was verifying his identity.

Bang!

Once verified, the guards stabbed their spears into the ground, producing a metallic chime.

The lights went out. Bang! The lights turned back on.

A figure appeared.

"Your Majesty!"

N'Jobu immediately knelt, pulling Zuri down with him.

"Who is he?"

The man standing there, in the Black Panther suit, was King T'Chaka—T'Challa's father.

"This is James. I vouch for him. He can stay, if you approve, King T'Chaka!" N'Jobu asserted.

James?

T'Challa frowned. His uncle's name was Zuri James? His father didn't know Zuri?

Something clicked in his mind.

"As you wish, rise," T'Chaka said. N'Jobu and Zuri stood.

T'Chaka removed his helmet, dismissed the guards, and greeted N'Jobu warmly. The two embraced.

"You look healthy!"

"Thanks to the goddess of Tobasto. How's home?"

When N'Jobu inquired, T'Chaka's expression darkened.

"Home is under attack!" he said gravely. Projecting a hologram—it was Ulysses Klaue.

"This guy stole 250 pounds of vibranium and set bombs at the border—many died," T'Chaka said.

"He knows where we store vibranium and how to strike efficiently. He has inside help!"

T'Challa's voice was resolute.

"What are you doing here?" N'Jobu asked.

"I want you to look me in the eye and tell me why you betrayed Wakanda!" T'Challa demanded.

"I did not betray my country!" N'Jobu insisted.

"Tell him who you are!" T'Challa ordered Zuri.

"Son of Badu, Zuri!" he replied. His presence had changed drastically.

T'Challa realized—just as he suspected, Zuri was his father's spy, placed by T'Chaka at N'Jobu's side.

Even his father didn't fully trust his own brother.

T'Challa felt a heavy weight in his chest, seeing a side of his father he didn't know.

"James… you lied to me?" N'Jobu shouted at Zuri, grabbing him.

"Do you think we only sent one spy?" T'Chaka retorted mockingly.

Zuri pulled vibranium from a hidden compartment and handed it to T'Challa.

The evidence was irrefutable. N'Jobu had smuggled vibranium.

"Prince N'Jobu, I order you to return to the country immediately and face the council!" T'Chaka commanded.

N'Jobu finally revealed his reasoning:

"I observed for years—the president assassinated, communities filled with drugs and weapons, Black citizens oppressed and imprisoned! The same across the country! Without weapons, they cannot fight back. With vibranium weapons, they could liberate themselves!"

So N'Jobu wasn't after money—he wanted Black communities outside Wakanda to rise.

"You must return immediately," T'Chaka said firmly.

"No!" N'Jobu drew a gun, aiming at Zuri.

Bang!

At the last second, T'Chaka leapt, disarmed N'Jobu, and used the Black Panther claws to pierce his heart.

N'Jobu collapsed.

T'Challa closed his uncle's eyes, tears in his own, and told Zuri, "This must never be mentioned again."

The footage ended.

T'Challa was shaken—his uncle had been killed by his own father.

"Even if my uncle betrayed Wakanda, his intentions were good… he didn't deserve to die!" T'Challa's breathing was uneven.

"Although tragic, it seems accidental," Scott Lang weakly suggested. "Your father just wanted to bring him back."

"That doesn't erase the fact my uncle was killed! And it was hidden all these years! More wrong on top of wrong!" T'Challa's voice was heavy.

The topic was too serious for anyone to comment.
