"Turn into Superman?"
Tony Stark's voice rose several notches, his face full of disbelief.
"Peter, did you just say… you can turn into Superman? The one from Krypton? Clark Kent?"
Scott Lang was even more shaken. He widened his eyes and stared at Peter Parker.
"If you really mean that Superman… isn't that a bit too overpowered? Wouldn't Thanos just be trash?"
"Pfft!"
Seeing everyone's exaggerated reactions, Peter couldn't help but laugh.
"Sorry, that was just a metaphor. I didn't actually turn into Superman. Though I'd love to—that would be insanely cool—but unfortunately, that's not the case."
He waved his hands quickly to clarify.
"This Pig Talisman lets my eyes fire laser beams. Kind of like Superman's heat vision."
"So that's what you meant!" Scott suddenly understood, looking excited. "The Pig Talisman does that? That's awesome. Definitely a great item."
"Laser eyes, huh? That's a powerful ability. Not bad at all," Tony nodded in satisfaction.
"Peter, let me see these laser eyes in action," Thor said eagerly.
"Of course!"
Peter agreed immediately. Judging from how eager he looked, he probably would've demonstrated it even if Thor hadn't asked.
He grabbed the Pig Talisman and clenched it tightly. Brilliant white light burst out from it instantly.
The talisman was activated.
At the same moment, Peter's eyes flared with dazzling golden light.
Szzzt! Szzzt!
Two golden beams shot straight out from his eyes.
Even though they weren't aimed at anyone, everyone present could feel the terrifying energy contained within those beams.
No need to guess—if an ordinary person took a hit from that, they'd definitely end up with two smoking holes in their body.
"Golden light, huh? That's way cooler than Superman's heat vision," Scott said excitedly.
"Really? I think so too!"
Peter deactivated the talisman and enthusiastically hung it around his neck.
He was very satisfied with this reward.
[Answering complete. Playing explanation video!]
The system prompt sounded again, and a video appeared on the large screen.
The first scene showed a chubby boy and a girl with long curly hair sitting together. Both looked miserable, as if something extremely painful had happened.
"Uh… that's my best friend Ned, and Michelle Jones—MJ."
Peter quickly introduced them, looking confused.
"This is Ned's house… Since when did Ned and MJ get so close?"
On screen, MJ suddenly asked seriously:
"How many are there?"
Without context, no one understood what she meant.
"But he told us to wait," Ned said.
After thinking for a moment, MJ seemed to make up her mind.
"I'm going to do it."
Do what?
No one knew.
"I just hope I can see him. I just hope we can see him!" Ned said painfully.
Sizzle!
Suddenly, golden sparks appeared in front of them—exactly like the magic sparks used by Kamar-Taj.
"What's going on? Is there a Kamar-Taj sorcerer nearby?" Scott guessed.
Everyone thought the same. The magical style was unmistakable.
Peter frowned.
What had happened in the future? Why were Kamar-Taj sorcerers involved?
On screen, MJ immediately said:
"Do it again!"
"Okay."
Ned repeated:
"I just wish I could see him again!"
Szzzt!
A portal opened—
Only for a second before disappearing.
Everyone was stunned.
It didn't look like a sorcerer opened it.
It looked like Ned did.
With just a sentence.
Encouraged, Ned stood up, mimicking Doctor Strange. One hand forward, one hand drawing circles.
"I wish we could see Peter!"
Whoosh!
A portal opened.
Only now did everyone notice—
Ned was wearing a Sling Ring.
"What? Ned knows magic now?" Peter's eyes nearly popped out. "Did he become a sorcerer?"
"Look at his hand," Captain America pointed out. "He's wearing a Sling Ring."
"So your classmate joined Kamar-Taj in the future," Thor said in surprise.
On the other side of the portal was a dark alley.
A Spider-Man stood there.
"Peter! Peter!"
Ned and MJ shouted excitedly.
The Spider-Man ran over and jumped through the portal.
But he was taller.
Not Peter.
Ned's grandma screamed in fright.
"It's okay! I'm a good guy! Calm down!"
Even his voice wasn't Peter's.
Who was this Spider-Man?
To prove himself, the tall Spider-Man pulled off his mask.
A completely unfamiliar face.
"Who are you?" MJ demanded.
"I'm Peter Parker. I'm Spider-Man. In my world, I was just here yesterday. Wow… string theory? Multiverse?"
He looked thrilled.
The multiverse was real.
This was the Spider-Man from The Amazing Spider-Man series—Garfield's version.
"It must be because of that spell," Ned and MJ whispered.
After some awkward explanations, MJ demanded:
"Prove you're Peter Parker."
She threw bread at him.
It hit his chest.
"What are you doing?"
"Don't you have 'Peter-tingle'?"
"I do, but it's not for bread! Can you stop throwing bread? You're very suspicious. I respect that."
He jumped and stuck to the ceiling.
MJ demanded he crawl upside down.
He refused.
Eventually, Ned's grandma cleverly asked him to clean the cobwebs.
As a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, he complied—crawling on the ceiling and proving himself.
"So… I opened the wrong portal and got the wrong Peter Parker?"
"Yes. So keep trying."
Ned opened another portal.
This time, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man appeared.
He wasn't in costume at first, so they didn't recognize him.
Only after Tobey and Garfield shot webs at each other did everyone realize—
He was Spider-Man too.
"Ever since I got here, I've been trying to find your friend," Tobey's Peter said. "I can feel he needs my help."
"Our help," Garfield corrected.
They were all the same at heart—good neighbors.
"He does need help," MJ admitted.
"But we don't know where he is," Ned said.
"Honestly… he only has us now," MJ added.
Thor grinned at Peter in the room.
"Peter, didn't you say MJ wasn't your type? She looks pretty worried about you."
Peter was stunned.
Looking at the screen, there was no way he and MJ weren't together.
But right now?
He had zero feelings for her.
And honestly… MJ was a bit… unique.
Not exactly his dream girl.
Finding out his future self was involved with her caught him off guard.
On screen, Tobey said:
"There's probably a place he'd go. Somewhere meaningful."
"Somewhere to get away from everything," Garfield added.
"For me, it was the Chrysler Building," Tobey said.
"Empire State Building," Garfield replied.
"I think I know a place like that," MJ said.
The scene cut.
At the top of a building, Peter crouched alone.
His face bruised and swollen, blood staining his skin.
He had clearly just been in a brutal fight.
His eyes were red.
Tear tracks lined his face.
Something terrible had happened.
