Caleb couldn't shake the system mission from his mind.
It was a constant weight, an irritating whisper reminding him of what he had to do.
He needed to finally take action—but how?
Part of him wished things could be different between him and Naya, that he didn't have to involve the other cardholders at all. But the reality was cruel: he was never meant to love a cardholder in the first place. The system didn't care about feelings, only results.
Still, it was time to get things moving.
Whether he liked it or not.
He turned toward Alice and cleared his throat lightly.
Her eyes flicked to him, and for a brief second, her cheeks colored before she quickly composed herself.
'She gives off the same energy as Naya… If not for the obvious differences, I'd almost think they were the same person, Caleb thought as he studied her.'
While they shared certain traits, the differences between them were striking.
