Although Luo Yanming was not necessarily in danger from consuming the small amount of peanut butter, Madam Luo insisted on keeping her son in the hospital for three days for observation.
On the fourth day, Dr. Bai Liuxian, who was in charge of Luo Yanming, gave the patient one final examination before signing his release form.
Dr. Bai Liuxian was undoubtedly the most handsome and famous doctor in the hospital. Whenever he walked along the corridors for his usual morning and evening inspection, his patients, mostly females, would suddenly have a lot of complaints, ranging from headaches to toeaches. Never mind the reason they stayed in the hospital in the first place.
Madam Luo was a proud elderly woman who looked down on men who were more handsome than her son, but even she could not help but steal furtive glances at Dr. Bai.
Dr. Bai was simply that good-looking. He looked good from any angle, no matter what he wore for the day or what expression he had on his face, but he looked particularly good when he was draped in his white coat.
"All good," Dr. Bai said, his deep voice rousing Madam Luo from her daydreams. "Madam Luo, you may take Mr. Luo back home now."
Madam Luo was somewhat embarrassed because the doctor caught her in the middle of daydreaming.
"Okay, Doctor, thank you very much. We are waiting for my future daughter-in-law to come before we go back together."
Dr. Bai shot her and Luo Yanming a disarming, dazzling smile.
"Is that so? I wish Mr. Luo and his fianceé a happy married life, then."
After leaving Luo Yanming's ward, Bai Liuxian was stopped by a nurse, who showed him the lab result of another patient who was admitted in the morning. It was a young teenage girl who came in complaining of a severe stomachache.
"I knew it," Bai Liuxian said with a sigh as he flipped through the patient's blood examination result. "She said that she had already stopped taking diet pills, but she obviously lied."
"Should we call her parents, Dr. Bai?"
"Yes. Ask them to wait in my office. I will finish my examination round first."
"Yes, Doctor."
Bai Liuxian turned away from the nurse and almost bumped into a woman, who dashed across the corridor like a little stormcloud.
"Please be careful," Bai Liuxian said, furrowing his brows in concern. "You should not run in the corridors."
The woman lifted her head and gasped when she took a good look at Bai Liuxian's handsome face. Cheeks reddening from both shame and admiration, she apologized profusely to the doctor.
"I am deeply sorry," she said. "I am just... I am a little anxious about something."
She harbored some hope that the handsome doctor would ask her what was wrong. She even twirled with a strand of her hair coquettishly, but the doctor merely passed her a cold look and said, "If you are in need of some medication, please do not recklessly buy it without a proper prescription."
"..."
The surrounding nurses held back their laughter until their stomachs hurt. Bai Liuxian left without sparing the woman any other word.
Face now tomato-red from embarrassment, she stomped toward Luo Yanming's ward angrily.
This woman was none other than Hong Yinling, Luo Yanming's future wife.
"Brother Luo!"
She burst into tears as soon as she stepped into the ward.
"Yinling, what happened?"
Luo Yanming put his arms around the woman, who threw herself at him and sobbed heartrendingly.
"The... the entertainment company that recruited me two weeks ago suddenly canceled my contract! I don't know what's happening... Brother Luo, what am I supposed to do?"
Hearing the news, Madam Luo exclaimed, "How can they cancel your contract one-sidedly? Which unprofessional entertainment company is that?"
"It's... It's Longyue Entertainment," Hong Yinling said in between sobs. "It's actually the largest entertainment company in the city. Many popular actors and actresses have signed with them."
Madam Luo snorted.
"I have never even heard of this Longyue Entertainment! Pray tell, which famous actor and actress have signed with this company???"
"Uh, the most popular ones would be Mr. Jiang Yue and Miss Yan Lin."
Madam Luo swallowed hard.
Only frogs who lived under stones did not know these two famous celebrities, either by face or by name. Their faces could be seen on many billboards across the city, while their names occasionally showed up in news articles and online posts.
"Then there has to be some misunderstanding," Madam Luo said, trying hard to sound unaffected. "Otherwise, how can they just terminate your contract like that?"
"I also don't know," Hong Yinling's tears streamed down her cheeks like a waterfall. "My manager said that he was not going to be my manager anymore. He said I could go find another entertainment company to sign with."
"Unheard of!"
A loud smack on the mattress caused both women to flinch in fright.
Luo Yanming was extremely angry.
"Longyue Entertainment here and there, who cared how many famous celebrities they had already signed? Does it give them the right to trample on other people's hope and future? Let us go to their headquarters tomorrow morning. I am going to give them a piece of my mind!"
