Chapter 73 - Chapter 73:

Chapter 73

The Cursed Legion was still there.

That much was expected. With the Warp energy saturating this battlefield, even the presence of six Greater Daemons wasn't unusual. For the Daemon legions to appear was simply inevitable.

"Brother?"

A Space Marine of the Space Wolves, meeting warriors of the Cursed Legion for the first time, called out uncertainly.

The other Astartes gave no reply. He only turned to face him, red eyepieces locking on. The Wolf could read the meaning in that silent gaze.

"Brother! Let us fight side by side!"

No further words were needed. Both sides proved their loyalty to the Emperor through action, bolters roaring in unison as they drove back the daemonic hordes of Slaanesh that swarmed around a Keeper of Secrets.

The Keeper itself cut through the front line with terrifying ease. In mere seconds, its four arms battered back the charging Inquisitors. One of those massive, clawed pincers clamped down on a female Inquisitor—the same woman who had once stopped Captain Wade from taking his own life.

She knew she would not survive. But even in her final moments, she refused to give up. Pulling the pin from her grenade, she screamed:

"For the Emperor!"

She hurled it toward the towering daemon and braced for death.

But death did not come.

Isis had entered the fray.

"Slaanesh! Slaanesh! Slaanesh!" she shrieked, sprinting forward with inhuman speed. Bounding from the shoulders of the Space Marines, she leapt high, scepter and chainsword in hand, the whirring teeth of the blade screaming in defiance.

Her spinning strike cleaved through the daemon's arm, severing the limb that held the Inquisitor. Both arm and captive fell to the ground.

"Hahaha! Slaanesh!" Isis shouted again, deliberately drawing the Dark Prince's gaze.

The Keeper roared in fury, swinging its remaining arms. But Isis weaved through the gaps in its strikes, her chainsword biting deep into its thigh. Psychic energy flowed through the blade, acting like a disintegration field—sheared clean through, the daemon's leg collapsed.

The towering monster staggered, thrown off balance. Isis darted behind it, raising her staff. With a blow like a thunder hammer, she smashed it into the Keeper's skull.

The daemon crashed to the ground.

It tried to rise—only to find a dozen bolters aimed directly at its face. Loyal bolts spat fire, joined by a torrent of promethium from a flamer, burning away the silks and finery adorning the abomination. Even its face was pitted and torn by the storm of mass-reactive rounds.

The Keeper howled in madness, straining to push itself up again—only for another Space Wolf to hack off one arm at the elbow. It collapsed once more, helpless. A second stroke severed its remaining hand.

Pounded relentlessly by bolter fire, its head was pulped into silence.

"Phew… that's better." Isis exhaled, finally at ease.

"When the other four Greater Daemons are slain, we can strike Slaanesh's sin from the stone tablet."

"Oh, Emperor…" an Astra Militarum soldier breathed, awe in his eyes as he watched Isis. "She looks like a champion."

"Eyes forward, trooper!" the Commissar barked, snapping him back to reality. "There are four more!"

Indeed, the remaining Keepers advanced from all directions. But this time, the Imperial forces would not be alone.

"Did you think only the Chaos Gods had their chosen? Thoros!"

A psychic portal tore open above the battlefield.

BOOM!

A colossal figure dropped through it—Thoros, the lizard warrior. He was so massive that Guardsmen could have marched between his legs without ducking.

"You'll take one," Isis commanded.

"As you will, Lady Isis."

Wielding a massive club, Thoros charged. The mere impact of his armored steps cracked the ground. Even the Space Wolves were stunned.

"This demi-human… he's taller than one of our Dreadnoughts!"

"I'd wager he could topple a Leman Russ!"

"Then we'll take another," Isis said, turning to the Wolves.

"Don't underestimate us," they growled. Fired by pride, they hurled themselves into battle against one of the towering daemons. Other Chapters joined to support them, ensuring the Space Wolves did not fall alone.

Imperial currency should not be wasted in vain.

As for Isis, she strode to face the next Keeper herself.

"Isis, leave one for me." Katata's voice echoed in her mind.

"Open me a portal."

"That monster won't fit inside here."

"Ten meters is enough. Just open it—I'll handle the rest."

With a wave of her staff, Isis obeyed. The psychic rift split reality before the last Keeper. Her talent was frighteningly clear; few psykers alive could manipulate the Warp so effortlessly. The ability to casually open portals was a gift bordering on sorcery itself.

The Keeper of Secrets paused, confused, as the portal widened. Then—

A colossal claw of flesh and metal burst forth, seizing the daemon in its grip. Before it could struggle free, it was dragged screaming into the Warp.

"Well then~~ not bad," Isis murmured, approving of Katata's plan.

It wasn't hard to guess the daemon's fate. Dragged to Godzilla's own domain, no outcome awaited it but suffering.

And indeed, as the Keeper blinked back to awareness, it found itself staring up at a beast towering fifty meters tall—Mechagodzilla, its claws crushing the Keeper like a child's toy.

The daemon barely had time to process the sight before it was slammed into the ground and pinned beneath a metal foot. The earth quaked from the impact.

Three Greater Daemons of Slaanesh remained.
