Chapter 74 - Chapter 74:

Chapter 74

On Godzilla's side, Shalasi had already reached him.

Like other great monsters, this demon was nowhere near Godzilla's size. In the world of Warhammer 40K, there's an unspoken rule: enemies of equal stature tend to clash.

The Imperium's generals fight Chaos warlords, Space Marines fight Traitor Marines, and Terminators cross blades with Possessed, Daemon Princes, and other monstrosities.

You wouldn't pit a Dreadnought against a Titan—it would end much like what we're seeing now.

Still, it depends on the kind of war engine we're talking about.

Shalasi the Calamity Daemon could be compared to a Dreadnought locked in its sarcophagus of iron. He carried fear, yes, but not enough to back away from Godzilla.

Don't think all daemons are equal. Take for example the legendary daemon Drachnyen of Chaos Undivided—he once wounded the Emperor Himself during the Webway War. The Emperor ended that trouble by sealing Drachnyen inside the body of a Custodian.

And beyond the Four Ruinous Powers, the Warp teems with countless lesser daemons. That's why, once the Webway Gate faltered, the Emperor could do little but remain in place. He couldn't risk Terra's defenders being overwhelmed.

Even Godzilla could only hold for so long. Daemons are endless, and such battles become meaningless.

Back to the fight.

Shalasi chose to square off with Godzilla. Godzilla, instead of leaping into the rift behind him, stepped forward. He wanted to test this champion of Slaanesh.

"Come. Show me what Slaanesh's strongest daemon is made of."

Shalasi's reputation was well-earned. Unlike most of Slaanesh's graceful horrors, he favored martial discipline over dance-like elegance. Lowering his stance, he set his round shield forward, spear tucked behind—a Spartan stance.

"Not using that ability?"

What he feared most was Godzilla's atomic breath. To daemons, nuclear fire—the raw power of physics—was true anathema.

Solar storms, after all, don't care about faith or sorcery. Even the Necron fleets will not dare cross them without protection, and daemons are no different.

"He trusts himself not to use it… then don't blame me for pressing the advantage."

In close combat, Shalasi would even dare clash with Khorne himself.

With hooves slamming into the ground, he launched into a charge, speed utterly disproportionate to his massive frame. A hurricane erupted in his wake, scattering debris to either side.

Godzilla countered with a sudden stop and a whipping tail strike. The tip cracked through the air at supersonic speed.

But Shalasi leapt, his hoof catching one of Godzilla's dorsal spines. His agility resembled a warrior of ancient Gutera, balanced atop the jagged plate without ever touching Godzilla's back.

From there, he thrust.

The spear, wrapped in a disintegration field, pierced Godzilla's hide as it once pierced the body of Khorne's so-called Vampire Lord. Purple warp-energy flowed down the shaft, seeking to corrupt Godzilla's body just as Horus once fell to Chaos' rot.

But as it neared, crimson dust seeped from the wound, devouring Slaanesh's taint before it could enter.

"What?!"

Shalasi recoiled instantly, spear pulled free, landing on a rooftop at a safe distance. He checked the weapon's tip—thankfully, no red dust clung to it. Perhaps it was only an illusion?

Yet no, Godzilla's wound was clean, no crimson haze in sight.

"What was that?"

The clash of auras had felt like Slaanesh's essence colliding with Khorne's, but Shalasi was mistaken.

For if Khorne himself saw that red aura, even he would falter.

That was not the Blood God's power—it was something greater. A power that could unmake universes.

It was Singularity Godzilla—the pinnacle of all Godzilla forms.

A being on par with the dreaming Cthulhu, perhaps even stronger. Rarely does it stir, even in its own series, and when it does, it appears only as a fifty-meter projection—yet that alone bends the very laws of reality.

Its mark: the red dust of the mortal world.

If that dust appears, it means Singularity's power is at work—power that transcends time and space itself.

But Singularity Godzilla does not act casually. If it did, this entire story would have ended at the start.

What Shalasi had struck was merely a passive defense, triggered only when Chaos daemons try to overturn the game. Like flipping the table during a match of Warhammer.

Even Godzilla himself had no idea Shalasi's strike had awakened that passive.

"It hurt like hell getting stabbed… so why did he run?"

Godzilla turned, watching Shalasi carefully.

"His speed is no joke. No wonder he can fight so many champions and never lose. Next time, I'll need a way to slow him down. But I think he's about to retreat."

Shalasi resumed his stance, convinced the strange defense had been some divine safeguard. He resolved to rely only on raw combat now.

"It seems tricks won't work. If Slaanesh's blessing fails me, then I'll fight with my own strength."

He braced his spear and charged again—

Too late.

Godzilla didn't bother meeting him head-on this time. His jaws opened, blue light building in his throat.

"Oh, tough luck…"

There was no escape. Not because Shalasi lacked speed, but because at this distance, Godzilla could simply turn his head to track him.

No building, no cover, nothing could block what was coming.

He raised his buckler, psychic wards flaring like a void shield around his form, praying they'd hold.

But in that same moment, Godzilla unleashed his breath—atomic fire roaring forth.
