Chapter 36 - .36

"I wouldn't dare have one at home," Fei Yang quickly said.

Danielle instantly had a dark cloud over her head.

Leng buried herself into the couch cushion, her shoulders shaking as she struggled not to laugh.

Rain still looked confused. "Why? Is it because our house is too shabby?"

Cough cough!

Fei Yang started coughing again—he really didn't know how to answer that. He still lived in the slums, while their family had a little villa. Now he just felt even more pitiful.

Danielle quickly picked Rain up. "Alright, let's stop talking about this."

"But Mom, my dad got scratched by a wild cat, it really hurt! I don't like wild cats."

Smack.

Danielle patted his back. "The wild cat doesn't like you either. Do you still want to go out? If not, stay home."

To avoid staying home, Rain puffed up his little cheeks but dropped the topic.

As they were heading out, Leng and Danielle walked behind the others.

Leng gave her a thumbs up. "Impressive."

Danielle raised a brow. "Jealous? Want me to introduce someone to you?"

"Sure, as long as he's like your Zachary. That body's pretty nice, and looks like he's got good moves too."

Leng's teasing gaze swept across Danielle's neck.

Danielle lifted her chin proudly. "No can do. My Zachary is one of a kind in the whole Land of Bliss."

"Danielle, is this your friend? Can you introduce us?"

A sugary voice called from the side.

Leng was about to turn around when Danielle grabbed her and ran.

"Don't look, don't turn around."

"Danielle~ Danielle~"

They ran far before that haunting voice of Chu Xiong finally faded.

"Why were you so scared?" Leng looked confused.

Danielle waved it off and told her about all of Chu Xiong's creepy stories.

Leng smirked. "Men are all the same. If you like him, keep him. If not, just have some fun."

Danielle looked surprised. Leng blinked innocently.

"What? I said something wrong? Women can have plenty of men."

Hmm. That's the worldview now.

Honestly, it was completely different from the male-dominated ideas from a thousand years ago.

Danielle shook her head seriously. "Don't say that in front of Zachary!"

Leng frowned. "He doesn't let you see other men? That's petty. I thought he was decent. That kind of thinking is ridiculous."

She said it loud enough, possibly on purpose, so Zachary could hear.

Everyone heard it clearly.

Fei Yang didn't react—he was raised with that kind of thinking.

But Zachary's face turned visibly colder.

Danielle shook her head. "No, it's my own decision. Leng, don't you think finding someone you love who also loves you, being together without drama, is a really beautiful thing? No third parties, no schemes. Just peace."

She sped up, took Zachary's hand, and walked ahead with him.

Leng looked conflicted. What Danielle said made sense, but it clashed with the ideals promoted in the Land of Bliss. She couldn't figure it out.

"Zachary sure is lucky," Fei Yang commented.

"You jealous?" Leng asked.

"Why wouldn't I be? Every man wants a woman who truly loves him. Especially if she's the only one."

Fei Yang looked hopeful. "Too bad… I don't know if I'll ever meet someone like Danielle."

Leng glanced at the couple in front of them and spaced out for a moment. The vibe between them really was nice and comforting.

At the mission hall—

When it came to naming their team, Leng and the others had no opinion, so Danielle just followed her preferences.

She really liked the image of a peaceful team, so she created something similar. This time, though, the little plant was obviously sturdier.

"Alright, since none of you mind, let's call ourselves Team Old Six."

Old Six?

What kind of name was that?

Leng's mouth twitched slightly.

Fei Yang immediately asked, "Why Old Six?"

"Old Six, Old Six, safe and smooth!"

Danielle grinned, waving her hand. "Let's go, we're taking on the mission!"

"Old Six, Old Six, safe and smooth!"

Leng muttered under her breath, unable to hold back a light laugh.

It was actually kind of fun.

Looking at the crowded mission display screens, Danielle froze.

She had no idea what kind of mission to take on.

She looked helplessly at Leng, who was just as confused.

"I don't know either, the leader used to choose for us."

Zachary shook his head helplessly. "Move aside, I'll do it."

The mission screen was divided into four levels: low, medium, high, and top-level missions.

The low-level missions were few in the middle zone, mostly in the lower zones.

Most medium zones had medium and high-level missions.

As for the top-level missions, they weren't something just anyone could take on.

It was said that only those with extraordinary talent could survive and return from a top-level mission.

So far, only one top-level mission remained, and it had been years since anyone took it.

Zachary's eyes landed on a medium-level mission. Since their team had just formed, it would be best to take on a mission that wasn't too dangerous, but could help them train and improve.

It was a bit tricky to find, though.

Zachary scanned the options, his eyes starting to blur, before finally pointing.

"This one!"

Kill fifty Black Fury Bears.

Black Fury Bears had tough hides and thick fur, making them hard to kill, but they weren't very fast, making them ideal for encirclement.

They were also valuable, though killing them was difficult. The bounty wasn't bad.

After Zachary explained, the other three nodded in agreement.

However…

Fei Yang looked at Rain, confused. "What about Rain?"

Danielle and Zachary had already discussed this. It wasn't safe to leave him at home alone.

So they decided to leave Rain in Danielle's space.

But they couldn't tell Fei Yang and Leng that. Danielle smiled.

"It's fine, I hired a nanny for him. He'll stay at home."

The next morning, Danielle couldn't wait to get up early. Zachary, on the other hand, looked resentful.

It was just hunting a fierce beast, but Danielle was so excited. She'd even insisted on saving her energy the night before, not letting him close.

Poor Zachary's little brother had just gotten a taste of the sweet life and was thrown back into the "black room."

"Hey, why aren't you up yet? Hurry up!"

Danielle urged him, quickly shoveling down some food and wiping her newly bought black knife.

Rain looked at Zachary, puzzled. "Dad, why is Mom so excited? Isn't hunting a fierce beast dangerous?"

"I don't know. Maybe your mom thinks it's a game," Zachary sighed. He only hoped Danielle wouldn't end up crying from fear later!
