Chapter 7 - Marriage - The Pandora's box

Yul moved the coffee to Liya's front, seeing how it was left untouched. He then asked, "Inu is four years old, isn't it? How is he in studies?"

Liya looked at the coffee but didn't drink it. Instead she replied to Yul, "He is a bit behind in growing compared to others. So I am yet to send him to any school."

Liya was right. Though he was four years old, he looked as if he was only two. Yul thought about it and said, "Let me arrange someone to have him examined on his physical and mental abilities first. Then we will discuss about his school and studies."

Liya nodded again as there was nothing she could suggest. Yul was acting like an authoritarian who made all the decisions by himself.

"What did you tell Inu about moving here suddenly?" Yul asked again. He was obviously concerned about the child more than Liya thought.

"Inu never talks much, nor asks anything unless that necessary. Maybe it is because he is slow in development, but he had never asked me about his father. The day you made a scene in our home was the first day he asked me about his father. So I had no choice but convince him that I will tell him everything later." Liya replied with disappointment in her words.

Yul listened to it carefully and asked, "So you are saying that you are yet to tell him anything!"

Liya nodded as answer to that question.

"That's great then. You will tell Inu that I am his father and we were having a fight that day about taking you both back to our home. Make him believe that you had run away with Inu after we had a fight and I was searching for you until now. Remind him that I was not trying to take just him but both of you. Is that clear?" Yul lectured Liya.

"Huh? So you want me to take all the blame and paint you as a lonely father trying to reconcile with his estranged wife and son?" Liya asked in astonishment.

"I can see that you clearly got the picture. Good for you!" Yul replied.

Liya kept staring at Yul without saying a word. Then Devin stepped in and said, "Boss just meant that it will be safe to teach Inu the same story, so that any mistakes won't happen in the future. It will also be better for Inu since he has to accept boss as father as soon as possible."

Liya agreed with what Devin had said. But Yul could have said the same thing too, instead of making her the culprit. Of course the assistant was more sensible than the master. Liya noted that down mentally.

"Ma'am, do you have any preferences related to the wedding? I will arrange if you have any particular things to be prepared. For instance - your wedding gown. How do you want it to be?" Devin asked.

Liya replied, "I don't have any demands. It just needs to be comfortable to wear."

Devin nodded and said, "Then we will do a trial after tomorrow's photograph session."

Liya just smiled to that. She was actually nervous about the whole wedding thing. If possible, she would have avoided the whole function itself. But the wedding was essential to make up for the lies and thus there was no option.

Liya thought about something else and asked quickly, "Will it be made public? I mean the wedding and the photos? Then will people recognise me if I go out after this? Is there any chance that we can avoid it?" She wanted to know if the people she was running from would also identify her as Yul's wife after this. She wanted to know if they would come after her, seeing her photo in some newspaper article.

"Do you not want to be recognised as my wife?" Yul asked in surprise as he wasn't getting how her mind worked. Normally to be recognised as his wife meant to be respected in public. No matter where she goes, she will be the one in authority and people would obey and respect her. That was the power and influence of Amarok family in all over Poonj. And here she was looking for a way to keep her identity a secret. Or was there something else she was hiding. Yul thought about the various possibilities while waiting for her answer.

"No, that's not it. I was just concerned about my privacy. I don't like people recognising and looking at me as if I was something special. I like to stay normal and merge in the crowd…" Liya tried to explain as she could sense that Yul got alarmed by her request right now.
