Facility Gamma-9 | 30 Years Before Present Day.
The air smelled of antiseptic and burning flesh. Behind three feet of reinforced glass, the scientists watched as Subject Alpha-001 writhed on the operating table. His gray skin glistened under the surgical lights, his muscles seizing as the Necro-Splicing serum snaked through his veins.
"Vital signs?" Dr. Richter adjusted his glasses, observing the biometric screens.
"Heart rate: 220. Brain activity: Critical. Cellular regeneration: 900% above baseline."
A scream tore from Alpha-001's throat, raw, guttural, inhuman, as his bones snapped and reformed, his irises flooding liquid silver.
Then, silence.
The subject sat up.
"Remarkable," Richter whispered.
Alpha-001 turned his head. Their eyes met. The glass shattered as the subject lunged.
They named him, Pierre Vassilis.
