Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: My Dad is Liu Fu

Liu Jian got out of the car and immediately understood that he had indeed encountered a staged accident. The man was lying on the side of the road, his leg pressed tightly against the front tire, looking as if he had been run over. In reality, there was still several inches of space between his leg and the wheel. As soon as he saw Liu Jian looking, he pressed his leg even tighter against the wheel, afraid that Liu Jian would see through his act. Liu Jian knew that the con artist definitely wasn't alone; he was just waiting for the others to show up. Soon, passersby gathered around, four or five young people, surrounding them and shouting, "He hit someone! Looks like it's serious, look, his leg seems to be broken. It's over, this man might not make it. Young man, looks like you might be going to jail."

The man who had fallen down then started moaning and groaning: "Ah, it hurts so much, my leg is broken! How do you drive? Just you wait, I'm going to send you to jail. Oh, it hurts so much, help!"

Liu Jian watched them perform, and when he saw that the timing was about right, he sneered and said, "Keep acting, keep acting. Is your leg broken? Do you need me to press it again for you? If it's not broken, find a stick and break it. Coming here to scam me, you tired of living?"

The onlookers were unhappy and started making a fuss. Some people were about to hit Liu Jian, but others were holding them back, making for a lively scene. At this moment, another person ran over from a distance, looked at the person lying on the ground, and shouted, "Bro, what happened to you? Who hit you? I won't let him off. Damn it, bro, don't worry, if something happens, I will kill him to avenge you."

After saying that, he stood up. Someone beside him signaled, and this person immediately walked towards Liu Jian and shouted, "Boy, you're the one who hit him, right? You're done for. My brother's leg is broken, he won't be able to work for the rest of his life, and you'll have to support his whole family. If you don't give me an explanation today, I won't let you off. If you piss me off, I'll kill you!" The more he spoke, the bigger his tone became, as if only killing Liu Jian could vent his anger.

After taking a deep look at the young man, Liu Jian immediately recognized him. This was Li Si, a small-time gangster. Who knew that after a few years, he would become the underworld boss of Panshi? Later, all the real estate developers would be begging him because there were too many stubborn homeowners, and many people were helpless. The government couldn't do anything either. Only Li Si could settle things. No one asked about the specifics of how he did it, but Liu Jian had heard a lot of rumors.

In reality, Li Si was Panshi's biggest stubborn homeowner. He occupied a lot of houses. Wherever there was development, he would force his way into buying a house. If you wanted to develop, you had to pay him several times, even dozens of times, more than what others would ask for.

Liu Jian once heard that Li Si demanded a storefront, two apartments, and a garage for a little over 30 square meter bungalow. Of course, right now Li Si was just a small-time gangster, still hustling on the streets, without any of the glory of his future self.

These thoughts flashed through his mind, Liu Jian sneered and said, "Li Si, you're pretty tough! Who are you showing off to in front of me?! I call you 'Dad', why don't you fucking agree! Son of a bitch, are you trying to mess with me? You're causing trouble and bringing it to my doorstep."

Li Si was stunned by what the young man in front of him said. It was clear that this young man knew him. With such a tough tone, he wasn't someone to be trifled with. But who was he? He couldn't remember him. Li Si was able to reach that position in his later years not only because of ruthlessness, but also because he was actually very intelligent. His tone softened involuntarily, and he asked, "Who are you? You've got a tough tone. So, you know Brother Si."

Liu Jian sneered a few times and said, "Who am I? You don't even look at the license plate before crashing into someone. You're tired of living, huh? Let me tell you, my dad is Liu Fu."

As he said this, Liu Jian couldn't help but think of the famous "My dad is Li Gang" from his previous life. He had also played the role of a second-generation official, but unfortunately, his dad wasn't an official; he could only be considered a second-generation rich kid.

When Liu Fu first started in the construction business, tools were always being lost, and some petty gangsters would steal things from the construction site every day. Until one time, Liu Fu caught them in the act. Liu Fu had been in the army and didn't take these petty gangsters seriously. He picked up a shovel and started hitting them. One had his leg broken, and another had his face cut open. These gangsters were nearly beaten to death. Liu Fu's reputation spread quickly. Also, there were the words he said after throwing money at the gangsters: "I don't have anything else, just money. As long as I don't beat you to death, I'll treat you well. If you're not convinced, come again, and see if I can beat you into submission."

Liu Fu then called his young apprentice, Li Wu, to come and manage the construction site.

Li Wu was Liu Fu's youngest apprentice, his real name was Li Wenwu. He originally became an apprentice to learn bricklaying, but he didn't learn bricklaying, instead, he learned a whole body of fighting skills. He would swagger around society all the time. Now he's one of the top big brothers on the Pan Shi streets. When he got to Liu Fu's construction site, he was even more impressive. He'd beaten up all the workers on the site, and no one dared to be dishonest anymore. Several of them became his followers, calling him Fifth Brother, Fifth Brother, wherever he went. Later, he had several more brawls with other construction sites. Li Wu was even more ruthless than Liu Fu, and his reputation spread.

Gradually, no one remembered his real name, and they all called him Li Wu or Fifth Brother. Unfortunately, in the previous life, after Liu Fu was dragged down, Li Wu also lost his backing. Once, he was set up by others and accidentally beat a student to death, and was sentenced to life imprisonment, and was still in prison when Liu Jian was reborn.

The reason Liu Jian was so sure that reporting Liu Fu's name would work was because the current Li Wu was an idol to these punks. There were few people in the underworld who didn't know him. Li Wu was the big brother of all of them. As for Liu Fu, he was an object of their admiration.

As expected, Li Si wilted as soon as he heard Liu Jian say, "My dad is Liu Fu." He knew he'd messed with the wrong person. These petty thugs weren't afraid of officials or the police. At worst, they'd get arrested and locked up for a few days. But messing with people in the underworld, especially big bosses, could cost them their lives. Panshi was a mountainous area. You could kill someone, throw them in the mountains, and they wouldn't be found for over a decade. The guy lying on the ground was so scared his face turned green. He immediately stood up, not daring to run, just standing there looking at Li Si, not knowing what to do.

Li Si reacted quickly, as expected of someone who had risen to the level of boss. He wanted to leave but didn't dare. If he ran, he wouldn't be able to hold his head up in front of his underlings, and Li Wu's revenge would make them suffer even more. He walked up to Liu Jian and asked in a low voice, "Then is Five Brother...?"

Liu Jian nodded, knowing that mentioning Li Wu would resolve the issue. Whether they hadn't actually hit him or had, it didn't matter now. It all depended on whether these guys knew how to handle things.

Liu Jian said, "Fifth Brother is my senior apprentice, you know what to do, I don't need to say it. Fifth Brother has mentioned you, Li Si, a rising star, a real man. Why are you getting involved in this? Aren't you afraid of losing face for your brothers?"

When Li Si heard that Fifth Brother had mentioned him, he felt even more embarrassed and didn't know what to do. Coupled with Liu Jian's praise, he almost wanted to find a crack in the ground to hide in.

Li Si smiled bitterly and said, "You're laughing at me, brother. I had no choice. I never expected to run into you. See if you can avoid mentioning this to Fifth Brother. I'll give you an explanation, just spare my brothers." Then, gritting his teeth, he used all his strength with his right hand to break the little finger of his left hand, the pain causing cold sweat to break out! Li Si's underlings were moved to tears, but given the situation, no one dared to make a sound.

Li Si had no choice; if he didn't give an explanation, this matter wouldn't be over. But if he handed his brother over, he wouldn't be able to survive in this world. Moreover, he was nothing in front of Li Wu. If Li Wu just put a word out on the street, it would be almost as bad as having someone collect his corpse.

Liu Jian took a deep look at Li Si; he was a ruthless person. He nodded and said, "Alright, let's just let this matter pass. By the way, I heard from Brother Wu that you work at a winery, how did you end up doing this?"

Liu Jian suddenly remembered that the winery where Li Si worked was called Sanbao Winery, which used to be a famous winery in Northeast China and a pillar enterprise of Panshi. Unfortunately, it went bankrupt later. And Li Si made his fortune after the winery declined. He found some small gangsters to occupy Sanbao Winery, then secretly brewed wine himself and resold it. He made his fortune little by little, and later even acquired Sanbao Winery. Now, even though Sanbao Winery hasn't closed down, it's probably close, otherwise he wouldn't have come out and done this.

Li Si was in so much pain that cold sweat poured out, and he smiled wryly and said, "The distillery hasn't been able to pay wages for a long time. We came out to make a little money, just so we could go back and have a drink."

Liu Jian thought for a moment, took out a thousand yuan from his wallet, and handed it to Li Si, saying, "Take this to Xiaobailou and get your finger reattached. With the rest, go back and have a drink with your brothers. Let's forget about this. In a couple of days, go see Fifth Brother. I have some things I want you to do. If you can seize the opportunity, not to mention drinking, even having a car and a house won't be a problem."

Li Si looked at the money in his hand. When he broke his finger just now, he certainly had the thought of getting even in the future. He didn't expect Liu Jian to be so good at handling things, and even arranged for him to do things, which made him a little overwhelmed. But no matter what, this was an opportunity. If he could hold onto the Liu family's coattails, he would definitely be able to live a life of luxury, and the thought of revenge faded away instantly.

Liu Jian didn't wait for him to speak, turned around, got into the car, and drove away. The lackey beside Li Si said, "Brother Si, is your hand alright? This kid is too ruthless. Should we find a chance..."

Before he could finish speaking, Li Si slapped him and cursed, "Damn, if you want to die, go yourself, don't drag me down. Alright, hurry up and come with me to get my finger reattached. Let's go drinking later. He really lives up to being the young master of the Liu family. He gave a thousand for a single move. He's really fucking rich."

Li Si was secretly excited, knowing that his opportunity had come. As long as he can latch onto him, he'll definitely have no worries about food and drink in the future. Who is Liu Fu? Who in the city doesn't know he's a big, well-known boss? He thought to himself that no matter what, he'll fucking do it. Fortune favors the bold. Li Si made up his mind.

Chen Xue on the bus kept looking at Liu Jian, clicking her tongue. Liu Jian was bewildered and asked, "Sister Xue, what are you doing?"

Chen Xue snorted and said, "Little Jian, I didn't realize it before, but you're quite the man. I always saw you as being a bit of a pushover, but I didn't expect you to have this side of you."

Liu Jian smiled wryly and said, "Sister Xue, I'm only a pushover in front of you. I'm a tough guy everywhere else. Besides, I just relied on my dad's name earlier, there's nothing to it."

Chen Xue chuckled and said, "Yeah, only you dare to act tough in front of me, I'll beat you to death."

At this time, Yu Miao, who had been silent, asked, "Xiao Xue, who were those people just now?"

Chen Xue turned around and said, "It's nothing, just some petty thugs, Xiao Jian scared them away."

Yu Miao "oh"ed and, after thinking for a moment, said, "Xiaoxue, those petty thugs were all scared away. What kind of person is Xiaojian? Is he involved in the underworld?" After speaking, she seemed a little scared and leaned closer to Chen Xue.
