Chapter 19 - The last night

In morning everyone was in tension in squad 3 just then ayame in her usual dress came out and said No one speaks of last night. Not to any squad. Not to the Gotei 13. I'll handle this myself."Without waiting for objections, she disappeared.

Destination: Tokinaga Mansion.

She didn't bother knocking.

The sliding doors were flung open with force, startling the guards and sending a cold breeze rushing into the chamber.Inside sat Yasu Tokinaga, head of the Tokinaga clan, along with the other noble family heads—Kenzo Kazoku and Hayate Kiyomizu—all locked in a private discussion. They turned sharply at her entrance, brows furrowed in disbelief.

Captain Ayame—" Kenzo began, his voice a mix of scorn and outrage. This is a noble meeting—"But Ayame didn't let them finish. She walked into the center of the room, calm and deliberate, and slammed a blood-soaked sack on the floor with a wet thud. The nobles instinctively recoiled as the sack unraveled, revealing severed limbs, crushed masks, and tattered black garments—the remains of the assassins sent to kill her.She pointed her blade—not at the pile, but at Yasu Tokinaga."Next time you try to play God, old man…" she said, her voice low and venom-laced"It won't be their bodies in the bag. It'll be yours."The silence was suffocating.Without another word, Ayame turned her back to the three nobles and walked out, her blade still drawn, the echo of her footsteps reverberating through the grand hall.

The room remained still until the heavy doors closed behind her.Kenzo Kazoku spat with disgust."She's gone rogue. This is no longer a political rebellion—she's a threat."

Hayate Kiyomizu added grimly We must act before she wins. Let's remind the Gotei 13 what it means to cross nobility."

Yasu Tokinaga's expression had darkened into pure steel."Then we move. Quietly. And decisively."

Meanwhile, back at Squad 3, Ayame had returned to her office, immersed in the final revisions of the bill draft. Every word, every clause, had been sharpened to strike directly at the heart of hereditary corruption.Just then, a Hell Butterfly entered through the window and landed silently beside her.She unrolled the message. Her eyes narrowed. It was a command from Central 46, directed to the Vice-Captains of Squad 3 (Shinji), Squad 8, and Squad 11—to immediately deploy on a sudden recon mission to Hueco Mundo due to "unusual hollow activity."

A thin smirk tugged at the corner of Ayame's lips."They're getting desperate."

It didn't take long for the captains—Ayame, Shunsui, Kuruyashiki—to realize the truth: this was a trap. A provocation. A move to thin their leadership. But they also knew the risk of refusal. If they disobeyed, the noble factions would twist it as dereliction of duty—grounds to strip them of command and replace them with obedient lapdogs So they gave the order to deploy.Even knowing what it meant.

The game had changed. The stakes were blood. And war was no longer a question of if—Only when.

Under the cover of night, Ayame Tokinaga moved with silent resolve.

She walked through the dimly lit courtyards of the Seireitei, her haori fluttering behind her like a warning carried on the wind. Her first stop was Squad 2.

There, she found Yoruichi Shihōin, seated on the roof of the barracks, basking under the moonlight like a panther watching the world sleep.

Ayame joined her without a word.

"You're restless tonight," Yoruichi said, glancing at her friend

"And when you're restless, the system bleeds."

Ayame smirked, but her eyes were solemn. She reached into her robe and handed Yoruichi a sealed scroll.

"This is the final draft," she said.

"I'm about to take a step I can't undo. If I don't return, you take this to the right hands—and see it through. No delays. No mercy. Those noble bastards must never hold hereditary claim to captains' chairs again."

Yoruichi looked at the scroll, then back at Ayame."You sure you want to carry this to the end?"

Ayame's gaze didn't waver"I'm already at the end.

From there, Ayame made her way to Squad 12, the den of invention and secrets. In its heart, she met with Captain Kirio Hikifune, a woman of brilliance and warmth.

Their conversation was long—measured, careful. Words between women who knew what change demanded: blood, patience, and pain.

By dawn, Hikifune placed her hand on Ayame's shoulder and said: Then I stand with you."The next day, a message arrived at Head Captain Yamamoto's chamber, bearing the seal of Central 46.The message was clear:Captain Ayame Tokinaga is to lead the recon mission into Hueco Mundo, accompanied by the vice-captains of Squads 3, 8, and 11.The reason given? To ensure the safety of the next generation.Yamamoto, bound by the system he protected, gave his approval. That same afternoon, Shunsui Kyōraku and Jūshirō Ukitake stood before him in protest."Head Captain," Ukitake spoke respectfully, "this mission stinks of a trap. You know it. We all know it."You're sending her straight into a coffin," added Shunsui, his usual smile absent. But Yamamoto, unyielding, responded:"If there is a trap, then let those strong enough to break it walk into it."That night, the true storm broke.Ayame made her final move. She returned to Tokinaga Mansion, where Yasu Tokinaga, Kenzo Kazoku, and Hayate Kiyomizu waited, plotting. Before they could speak, her blade sang through the air—silent and clean. In less than five minutes, three noble heads fell.Later, in the shadows of their estates, Squad 5 Captain Mizuku Kazoku and Squad 7 Captain Locart Kiyomizu drank wine laced with a poison so precise it silenced them before their spiritual pressure could even waver.By dawn, five nobles were dead .And by mid-morning, Ayame was leading her assigned team into Hueco Mundo, with the second-in-command of Squads 3, 8, and 11 at her side.
