Chapter 16 - Chapter 15

Guo Fei looked at the ID and notice the officer showed, and immediately started the handover.

"Yes."

"Comrade, we also need to take the witnesses."

"They're all at the hospital for a check-up."

"We'll take the person who made the report first."

Hearing that, Meilin got a little nervous. She was just a simple woman from a small village and was always a bit afraid of the police. Now, these officers were from the city.

"I… I… I was the one who called the police."

"Alright, comrade, please come with us."

Seeing Meilin so frightened, Sienna stepped forward and said, "I'm the witness. I caught those people. I can go with you."

"Alright, thank you, comrade."

The group quickly left. Seeing this, Guo Fei rushed back. He had to report everything immediately.

When he got back to the station, he saw Teacher Yuxia sitting in the lobby and asked, "Sister-in-law, is something wrong?"

If there hadn't been anyone else around, he wouldn't have had time to talk.

"Comrade, did you see a woman come here to report a case? She was holding a child, about one year old."

"You mean the one from Willow Alley?"

"Yes, that's the one. Where is she now?"

"This case was handed over to the city police. She and another woman were taken to the city as witnesses."

"What? What should I do now?"

Teacher Yuxia panicked completely and didn't know what to do next.

Seeing her like that, Guo Fei said, "Sister-in-law, just sit here for a while. I'll take you home later. I need to go make a report first."

Teacher Yuxia didn't even hear what he said. Guo Fei didn't say more either. He guessed she was probably one of the rescued victims and was scared.

Guo Fei went to report the situation to his superior. After he left, Political Commissar Wu Wen arrived. As soon as he entered, he saw Teacher Yuxia crying there.

He quickly walked over and asked, "Comrade Yuxia, what's wrong? Don't cry. Look, you've scared the child too."

Hearing his voice, Teacher Yuxia looked up and grabbed his arm tightly. "Commissar, please help save Sienna and Meilin. Harren is also with them."

"Alright, calm down first. Tell me where they are and what happened."

"They were taken by the city police. Taken away."

Wu Wen was shocked. It had only been an hour or two, and now they were already in the city?

At that moment, Guo Fei came back. He planned to take Teacher Yuxia home. When he saw Wu Wen in a military uniform, he immediately stood at attention and saluted.

"Hello, Sir."

"Hello, comrade. I'm Wu Wen. Just call me Comrade Wu."

"I'd like to ask about the details. Three of the kidnapped victims are military wives. Two of them have been taken to the city. I want to meet your director."

"Alright, this way please."

Knock knock knock

"Come in."

"Hello, Director Zeng. I'm Wu Wen, political commissar of the 3rd Regiment."

"Commissar Wu, welcome. Please have a seat. What brings you here today?"

"I'd like to ask about the case today. Three of the victims are military wives. As you know, soldiers are often away, and it's not easy for their wives. Our unit has to take care of them."

"Commissar Wu, you'll have to talk to higher-ups. We couldn't do anything. Our team had just arrived when the city police took over. I just got orders not to interfere in this case."

"Alright, thank you. I'll take my leave."

"Take care, Commissar Wu. This case isn't simple. Be careful. But those three military wives should be fine."

"Thanks for the reminder. Director Zeng, I'll use your phone for a moment."

"Alright."

Very soon, Wu Wen went outside and called for Teacher Yuxia. He had to take her home first to make sure she was safe. He had already reported everything about Sienna and Meilin to his superior, so nothing bad would happen to them.

"Comrade Yuxia, let's go. I'll take you home."

"Commissar, what about Sienna and Meilin?"

"You don't need to worry about them. I already contacted our leaders. After I send you home, I'll go to the city."

He stepped forward, picked up Orin, and started walking out. Teacher Yuxia quickly followed and said, "Commissar, I can carry the child myself and go home. You should go help them first. They must be scared at the city police station."

"Comrade Yuxia, hurry up. My job right now is to take you home safely. They'll be fine for now."

"But…"

"No buts. Let's go. They're military wives, and since our leaders already contacted the city, no one will dare to hurt them. Otherwise, they'll be in big trouble."

"Okay."

In the city.

"Speak."

"Speak about what?"

"Your name?"

"Sienna."

"Age?"

"18."

"Identity?"

"Military wife."

The person doing the questioning paused for a moment, then continued.

"Do you have a job?"

"No."

"Did you injure all those people by yourself?"

"Yes."

"Why were you so violent? One person was seriously injured. Do you know this could count as intentional harm?"

"It was an accident. I was kidnapped. Now you're saying it's my fault for fighting back?"

"If you were strong enough to beat all of them, then why did they manage to kidnap you?"

"Because there were kids with us. I wasn't alone. Of course I had to be careful. I was threatened."

"Several of them were seriously hurt. One person was disabled. That counts as assault. If they press charges, you could go to jail unless they forgive you."

Sienna laughed. Did they think she was just a country girl who didn't know anything?

She asked in a frightened tone, "Then what should I do to get them to forgive me? I'm so scared. I don't want to go to jail."

The interrogator heard her question. Although her tone sounded a bit off, he didn't pay attention to it and replied, "They said they were just joking around and didn't mean to scare you. Since you accidentally hurt them, they won't press charges if you don't either."

"Ah, that simple? Can you really decide that?"

"Yes. Because you're a military wife, I'll help you settle this. I used to be a soldier too. I respect military wives."

"Oh. What about the others? They saw me hit those people."

"Don't worry. We'll talk to them. It won't involve you."

"Okay then. I trust you. You better keep your word. I agree. I don't want to go to jail."

"Alright. Don't worry. Nothing will happen. I'll keep my word. Now sign this and press your fingerprint on it."

He handed her the paper. She looked at the words "Forgiveness Letter" on it and smiled.

"I don't know how to read. What should I do? I can't sign my name."
