Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Refilling Charm lv3

Accompanied by an annoying alarm sound, Link unwillingly opened his eyes.

What entered his sight was a thick brown bedboard. Link first froze for a moment, then quickly reacted, he had already crossed into the magical world of Hogwarts.

The noisy alarm sound was still echoing inside the dormitory. Link shook his head and hurriedly got up to press it off.

And it was only then that he realized, the three roommates who slept above him and across from him were already completely gone. Now in this windowless dormitory, which looked more like an underground cave than a room, there was only him alone.

"Sigh." He helplessly let out a sigh. To be honest, even now Link still did not know who his roommates were. When he came back yesterday, because it was too late, his roommates were already all asleep.

Link had originally planned to meet these roommates in the morning, and for this he had especially set an alarm clock.

It was just that these roommates had gotten up even earlier than he had expected.

In Link's thinking, maybe these roommates didn't want to interact with him at all. You have to know, today was the weekend, they had no reason to wake up early.

But this was also good, Link actually did not very much want to interact with them either. The existence of these people would only cause him to scatter more of his energy on socializing.

And compared to socializing, Link was more interested in magic.

Thinking like this, Link impatiently picked up the wand that he had always hidden under his pillow, and began practicing spells.

Of course, the spell he practiced was still the Refilling Charm.

But the reason he practiced this spell was not because it was the only spell Link currently had mastered, but because this spell had already accumulated a certain amount of experience points.

Link wanted to infer the effects after spell level-up by upgrading this spell.

"Replenish!"

"Replenish!"

Very quickly, inside the empty dormitory began to echo Link's chanting sounds, and at the same time, lines of "Experience +1" information also appeared on his retina.

To be honest, for ordinary little wizards, repeatedly practicing the same spell was a rather boring thing. Especially when this spell's effect was only to refill the water inside a cup.

But Link showed a very active attitude, even somewhat excited.

This was very easy to understand. Link had just come into contact with these supernatural things yesterday, the sense of novelty had not yet worn off. It was estimated that now, don't even mention asking him to practice the Refilling Charm, even if you asked him to recite the whole spell textbook, he could probably memorize it for you.

Over an hour later, accompanied by the final chanting of the spell, a particularly striking golden line finally popped up in Link's eyes.

[Refilling Charm lv3 Acquired!]

Link immediately became excited, but before he could make any celebratory moves, a massive amount of information and knowledge was forcibly stuffed into his brain.

This time, the amount of information was much greater than when he leveled up the last time, to the extent that Link's head immediately started to ache violently.

Strongly enduring the pain, Link once again raised his wand and cast the Refilling Charm toward an empty cup.

"Fill."

With a syllable bouncing out from his mouth, the cup pointed at by his wand instantly refilled with clear water.

This sudden change made a smile appear again on Link's face, and even the headache in his mind seemed to have weakened quite a bit.

Because he discovered that when casting the Refilling Charm now, he no longer needed to chant the complete spell, and at the same time the wand waving motion had also been completely omitted.

This meant that his spellcasting speed with the Refilling Charm had reached a level close to silent casting, and at the same time the spell's effect had also greatly improved.

And most importantly, it had only taken Link a little over a day from first touching the Refilling Charm to training it to this extent.

If he continued practicing, silent casting and even wandless casting might not be far off.

Such mastery speed might not seem impressive on a simple spell like the Refilling Charm, but if applied to other advanced spells, it would be terrifying.

'Seeing it like this, this golden finger is ridiculously strong!' Thinking this, the smile on Link's face became even more unrestrained.

Even the body that had previously become extremely fatigued from consecutively casting the Refilling Charm forty-something times now felt lighter.

But soon, the smile on his face froze again. Because he was surprised to find that after he had just cast the spell, the Refilling Charm's experience bar had not fluctuated as it normally did.

At first Link thought it was because the experience required to level up from lv3 to lv4 was simply too exaggerated, so much so that the fluctuation couldn't be seen by the naked eye.

But when he forcibly endured the fatigue and cast the Refilling Charm once more, Link fell into complete despair.

Because this time, not only did the experience bar not move, even the "proficiency increased" information did not appear.

Link collapsed onto the bed all at once, frowning as he began to think about the reason.

First he focused his attention on the mass of knowledge and information that had suddenly appeared in his mind.

Link's idea was very simple. Since these things had come along with the Refilling Charm's level-up, then they very likely contained a solution to the current situation.

Previously, because the amount of knowledge was too huge, Link had not flipped through it carefully. But now, taking a careful look, Link was instantly dumbfounded.

Because these knowledge and information were equivalent to an operation and science manual for the Refilling Charm.

Link could still understand some of the operation parts, but for the explanations like why to operate this way, and the theory behind it, he couldn't understand at all.

After realizing this, Link thoughtfully scratched his head. It seemed that this golden finger he had might not be so strong after all.

What it could do was not to turn the whole magic system into simple data and then allow easy leveling up through proficiency.

Instead, when you reached a certain level of proficiency with a spell, it directly stuffed knowledge related to that spell into your brain to achieve the purpose of enhancing spell effects.

Because it directly instilled related knowledge into the brain, information such as how to mobilize magic power, chant tone changes, wand swinging range, and so on naturally also got imprinted into Link's mind.

These simple things, Link could naturally execute. This was also why Link, despite never having contact with supernatural knowledge before, could still upgrade spell levels to improve spell effects.

But now, this method of "only knowing what to do but not why" clearly no longer worked.

If Link wanted to continue improving the proficiency of the Refilling Charm, he would have to fully understand the knowledge that had been stuffed into his mind earlier.

Thinking like this, Link immediately pulled out the spell textbook from a cloth bag at the side and flipped to the section about the Refilling Charm.

Maybe because it was only a second-year textbook, the section about the Refilling Charm was not very long, and the content wasn't very advanced either.

But Link had only been reading for a short while when a piece of exciting information popped up again on his retina.
