With every battle, they grew stronger, more determined, and more desperate. The SSD's scientists worked tirelessly to create weapon that could kill these monsters and also tried understand the portals and the monsters that emerged from them, coining the terms "rifts" for the portal and "Rift Walkers" for the monsters.
As the SSD fought to protect the world, the people began to see a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, humanity could survive this apocalypse.
