Chapter 1 - The Fisher Family

Once upon a time, in a forest far, far away, a woman, Linda, took care of orphans in her ruined orphanage. Pepe, her eldest son, helped her out. All of the orphans considered themselves siblings. They struggled to survive, but they did.

Three brothers and a baby sister were adopted from the orphanage by a married couple, Henry and Adelia. They were hesitant. Still, they were known as the Fisher Family. The names of the brothers were Hafen, Stark, and Matteo. They were around five to seven years old.

Henry and Adelia warned the brothers to never go far from their house. One day, the brothers ignored their warning and ventured deep into the forest without any supervision. They wanted to visit the orphanage. They stumbled into a group of kids, and it rained. As they rested in a cave, the brothers grew hungry.

All of a sudden, the other kids ran into the cave. They were scared for their lives and hid inside.

Stark asked what was wrong.

A kid warned that there was a monster chasing them.

The brothers went outside. As they exited, a giant snake lunged at the brothers. The brothers were shocked. As the brothers fought the snake, the snake outmaneuvered them and hit them into the cave. As the brothers were too injured to move, the giant snake slowly slithered into the cave. It looked at the scared kids and lunged at them.

Suddenly, the giant snake was pulled away midair. The snake looked worried as it was pulled out of the cave. The brothers stared at the cave's entrance.

Henry grasped the giant snake's tail and swung it into multiple trees. The brothers and the kids were bewildered and in awe. Henry's hands were covered in an aura of energy. As Henry fixed his straw hat, the giant snake slithered away.

After that, the brothers decided to stay with Henry and Adelia. After they begged him, Henry taught his sons how to spar and some of his martial arts. He taught them karate, sword fighting, archery, and other forms of hand-to-hand combat.

After a while, the brothers helped Adelia with her garden. Stark muttered that the seed he planted was gone. As she fixed her red headband, Adelia chuckled and explained that his seed bloomed into a beautiful green flower. Matteo exclaimed that his did, too, and Hafen quietly watered his flower. Stark laughed. Adelia smiled and asserted that they took good care of them. Stark stared at his green flower and smiled.

On the next day, Pepe, from the orphanage, arrived at their house. Pepe had green hair and eyes, and he was a little older than the brothers. He saw Henry working on his small farm and approached him. Pepe greeted him. Henry welcomed him to their place. With no sight of the brothers, Pepe asked where they were. Henry explained that they were training by the trees behind their house. He chuckled and commented that they were quite special. Pepe headed towards them and wondered what Henry meant.

Behind the trees, the brothers yelled numbers as they did pull ups on the tree branches. 750...751...752... Pepe was surprised. Hafen alerted that Pepe arrived. The brothers dropped down from their branches. Pepe asked them why they were training. The brothers expressed that they must protect the people from the attacks of the monsters. To their surprise, Pepe taunted them. The brothers accepted the challenge and lunged at him.

Eventually, Pepe defeated the three of them. On the ground, Stark muttered that he would win next time. Hafen questioned how he won if they've been constantly training. Pepe smiled and replied that it was a secret. Matteo praised him. They returned to the house to rest, and Adelia served them food. The brothers ate through bowls of food and stopped when they were full. To Adelia's and Henry's shock, Pepe ate through more bowls. After dinner, Pepe waved goodbye.

The Fisher Family watched in disbelief as he walked away. The brothers wondered how he could always be stronger than them. Henry and Adelia realized that they were out of weeks of harvest from the farm.

One day, the brothers trained with a group of kids. From the forest's path, a girl watched them. A boy noticed and asked what she was holding. The brothers looked at the girl and stopped the training session. The girl had black hair and red eyes. She was holding a big egg with a metal ring around it. The girl revealed that it was an egg from a monster.

The kids were shocked. One of them called her a monster and charged at her. The girl spun around him, and the boy crashed into a tree. The other kids surrounded her and demanded her to hand over the egg. The girl glanced at the boy and realized that he was knocked out but fine. She uttered that she could not trust them with the egg. The girl asked where the orphanage was. The kids lunged at her. The girl unexpectedly defeated them all while holding the egg. Matteo commented that she seemed strong. Hafen asked who she was.

As she stood on a branch of a tree, the girl asked if they would tell her where the orphanage was or if they would fight her, too. Stark asserted that he would like to fight her. Stark paced towards her. Hafen told him to wait. The girl jumped off the tree, and Stark rushed to her. Stark threw a punch. The girl dodged to the side. Stark's punch brought down the tree. He quickly turned to face the girl. The girl was surprised by his strength. He was different than the other kids. Stark threw another punch. The girl threw the egg into the air. As she evaded the punch, Stark smirked.

Above them, Matteo jumped and grabbed the egg. The girl kicked Stark in the face. Stark rolled on the ground, and she rushed to Matteo. Matteo ran into the forest. She caught up with him and tackled him to the ground. The egg rolled away, and floated into the air towards Hafen. As he grasped the egg, Hafen asked what she was planning with an egg of a monster.

The girl stood up and explained that it was an egg for snakes, a species of monster, and that it was abandoned. She continued that a friend wanted her to bring it to the orphanage. Suddenly, Hafen felt resistance from the egg. The egg flew out of his grasp and into the girl's hands. After that, she ran away.

After some time, the brothers felt comfortable at their new home. One day, they sparred outside. However, an argument spewed between Stark and Hafen and led to a fight. Stark rushed at Hafen, the oldest of the three. Hafen, not able to react in time, was punched in the face. He was sent flying to a small tree. The small tree, due to the impact, fell to the ground. Matteo, the youngest of the trio, asked if he might have gone a little overboard on that last attack. Stark replied that Hafen deserved it after what he said.

The smoke cleared as the broken tree branches were now floating in the air. Stark smiled and exclaimed for Hafen to bring it on. Matteo was shocked to see Hafen ready for round two. Hafen appeared through the smoke with a cold stare and blood running down his nose as he sent the tree branches flying towards his siblings. The two younger siblings braced themselves for the onslaught. Matteo quickly dodged the branches as he made his way towards Hafen. Stark, on the other hand, was getting hit by most of the branches. He was slowly getting closer to Hafen though like a tank. Hafen took notice of this and backed away.

In the fight, Hafen displayed his telekinesis technique, Matteo displayed his super speed, and Stark displayed his super strength and defense.

Suddenly, their father, Henry, appeared between them with a face of disappointment. The branches fell to the ground. The trio immediately stopped. Silence fell upon them. Henry questioned what they were doing. He asked if that was how he taught them to train. Stark replied that it was not, but that Hafen started it. Hafen responded that he was lying. He continued that it was Stark's fault. Henry turned his head downwards. Matteo revealed that Hafen insulted Stark. Then, Stark punched him harder than he was supposed to. Henry lifted his head and asserted that they were all at fault for it to escalate this much. He continued that it was disheartening that they didn't take accountability. Hafen questioned how it was his fault. Henry elaborated that he pushed the fight to start. He continued that Stark was not in control of his emotions. Henry pressed that Matteo joined the fight instead of stopping it. Henry gave them advice on taking accountability for their actions after they blamed each other. After that, the brothers are called into the house for dinner by Henry. Inside, their mother, Adelia, prepared food with a baby in her arms.

When they entered their home, Adelia saw her sons bruised up. She approached her husband and asked what happened to them. Henry replied that they got into a brawl between themselves. After learning of the details, Adelia approached Hafen with a worn-out towel. She wiped the blood off his nose. Adelia asked Hafen if he was in pain. Hafen muttered that he was fine. Adelia asked him to let her. Stark and Matteo watched. She smiled and asked them to wash up for dinner.

After a mother's treatment, they proceeded to have dinner. In the middle of dinner, Stark commented on the food, as he enjoyed the taste. Matteo also expressed his delight. Hafen, on the other hand, stayed silent. Adelia, while serving food, asked Hafen if his food was not good. Hafen muttered that he was just not hungry. Henry told Hafen to eat his food and not to be wasteful. Hafen continued to eat the food silently. Stark and Matteo watched him.

After dinner, Henry asked Hafen to follow him. Henry sat on the porch of the house. He asked Hafen to sit next to him. They sat in silence. Henry looked at the sky. He explained that the moon was a lonely rock. It was alone in the vast sky. He continued that it was beautiful because of the reflection of the light of the sun. The moon was only able to shine because the sun allowed it to. Henry pressed that Hafen should be grateful to have people who support him. If he kept pushing his support away, then they would eventually leave him. Henry revealed that Hafen reminded him of his past self.

Back then, he thought that he had nothing left. Henry admitted that he felt lost, and he felt like his life was meaningless. He explained that he almost gave up. However, his wife, Adelia, gave him a reason to keep living. He concluded that his family was his strength. After Henry finished his speech, he asked if Hafen understood. Hafen replied that he did. Hafen stood up and left.

The next day, the brothers trained by the trees of their home. They were practicing their form. Stark asked Henry, if they could go deeper into the forest. Henry questioned why they would want to. Matteo revealed that they wanted to find the girl that they fought with. Henry was confused. Stark added that she seemed strong, and he wanted to see how strong she truly was. Henry warned that the forest was dangerous, and there were things beyond their imagination. They could get seriously hurt. He continued that the girl might have her own reasons for being out there.

While watering her garden, Adelia listened in. She commented that they worried that they would get lost. Henry agreed. He continued that the forest was very dangerous, and they were not ready yet. Henry pressed that they had not mastered their techniques yet. Stark bloated that he was able to defend himself against anything. He continued that they could defend themselves from any monster. Matteo nodded and exclaimed his agreement. Henry chuckled and revealed that monsters were not the only threat. Henry elaborated that there was something stronger than any of the brothers. Adelia listened and smiled. He concluded that the brothers would be killed if they went. Stark, Hafen, and Matteo were shocked.

After Henry's warning, the brothers were more motivated to get stronger. Henry's training became even harsher. They practiced their forms, their punches, kicks, and blocks. They learned how to use the surrounding environment and their strengths to their advantage.

Eventually, Adelia called for them as it was time for dinner. As the brothers were eating through bowls of food, Henry announced his news. He stated that the brothers' friend, Pepe, would come by their house tomorrow. The brothers cheered. As Adelia was cleaning dishes, she smiled at her family.
