Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The World Of Power And Despair

In the year 2061, Earth was no longer the planet humanity once knew. Cities lay in ruins, forests burned under crimson skies, and oceans boiled with rage. The cause? Monsters—otherworldly creatures called "Ravagers" that began appearing fifty years ago through interdimensional rifts. They were relentless, intelligent, and terrifyingly powerful.

But humanity didn't fall without a fight.

From the ashes of despair, people began awakening supernatural abilities—some called it a mutation, others called it evolution. These powers varied, from elemental control to time manipulation. The most powerful were called Rankers and were classified by national and global rankings based on strength, mission success, and raw combat ability.

I'm one of them. Name's Nezo. I'm Malaysia's Rank 2 and currently World Rank 7.

Yeah, I know. Sounds cool. But trust me—this life isn't flashy. You wake up not knowing if you'll live to see another day.

To grow stronger, I left home and began traveling the world. I fought Ravagers in the deserts of Arabia, trained in the Tibetan cold, and even dueled heroes across Europe. Power was my goal—not for fame, but because I needed to protect what mattered to me. My country. My school. My people.

That brings me to today.

I was meditating at a waterfall in Nepal when my wrist communicator buzzed violently.

EMERGENCY: SRA LEVEL THREAT DETECTED. TARGET LOCATION – SMH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, KUALA LUMPUR.

My heart stopped.

That was my school.

I didn't waste another second. In a flash, I used my Vector Warp—a technique that launches my body using kinetic force like a slingshot. The wind roared past me as I crossed borders in minutes.

When I arrived, the campus was in flames. Walls were torn down, students screaming. A monstrous figure towered at the center, covered in obsidian scales, its claws soaked in blood.

An S-Class Ravager. No doubt.

I clenched my fists, activating my core ability: Vector Pulse. My body lit up with blue energy, and the ground beneath me cracked.

"Get away from them," I growled, charging in.

The battle was brutal.

The Ravager moved like a blur, claws slicing air itself. I dodged narrowly, striking back with compressed vector strikes. Debris flew everywhere. My uniform was torn, and my knuckles bled. It wasn't enough.

It mocked me in its distorted voice, "You're weak, Nezo. No wonder you're only Rank 7."

That pissed me off.

I didn't want to use it, but I had no choice.

I raised my hand and whispered the word only a few had ever heard:

"Disintegration."

A glowing rune appeared in my palm. The moment I touched the Ravager, its body dissolved into nothingness. No remains. No trace. Just silence.

But I didn't feel proud.

I looked around—my school was in ruins.

Minutes later, my communicator buzzed again.

RANK UPDATE: NEZO – MALAYSIA RANK 1 | WORLD RANK 4

I was now among the strongest on Earth.

But at what cost?
