Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: It's Actually 3600 ATK, So Strong, Too Strong

Chapter 28: It's 3600 Attack Points, So Strong, Too Strong!

This wasn't Lucky just bragging; he truly was the most skilled Duelist in prison. Even a significant part of his escape was thanks to his Duel Monster Cards, as he had won information like the prison guards' patrol routes from other inmates.

"I'll be taking the first turn," Lucky declared, unceremoniously claiming the right to go first. He drew a card from his Deck.

[Chumley: 2000 LP, Hand 5]

[Lucky: 2000 LP, Hand 5 → 6]

Clutching the cards in his hand, his handgun still in his grasp, Lucky glanced down, a satisfied smile spreading across his face: "Sure enough, these past few days really have been my lucky days. I'm truly so 'Lucky'!"

"You're really unlucky, kid, or perhaps I should say I'm incredibly lucky? To think I drew my ace monster on the first turn," Lucky said smugly, playing a card from his hand.

"I summon my strongest monster, (TM-1 Launcher Spider)!"

[(TM-1 Launcher Spider)] [Level 7/FIRE Attribute] [Machine-Type/Normal Monster] [2200 ATK/2500 DEF]

To draw his strongest monster from his Deck on the first turn? Chumley looked at the card Lucky played. This guy's luck was a bit *too* good. He should try playing a (Blue-Eyes White Dragon) Deck, maybe get an opening hand with three Level 8 monsters, plus (Polymerization) and (De-Fusion).

"My turn isn't over yet. I'm also going to equip these two Spell Cards to my darling."

Lucky's moves didn't stop after summoning his monster; rather, it was just the beginning. He even played two Spell Cards in one go. What's more, both cards he played were actually (7 Completed)!

[(7 Completed)] — Only Machine-Type monsters can equip this card. The equipped monster gains 700 ATK or DEF.

"What I'm increasing, of course, is its ATK! Under the effect of two Spell Cards, my big darling's current ATK is—"

"3600 points!"

[(TM-1 Launcher Spider)] [ATK 2200 → 3600]

"My turn has ended." Lucky looked at the monster on the Field, whose ATK surpassed even (Blue-Eyes White Dragon), feeling incredibly smug. Even when dueling in prison, he had never pulled off such a smooth play. This kid in front of him seemed unusually unlucky.

But his misfortune had nothing to do with him; all that mattered was his own satisfaction. "Kid, begin your struggle. My (Launcher Spider) can easily crush any monster, no matter what it is."

[Lucky: Hand 6 → 3]

"Even if I struggle, I wouldn't start struggling with full LP; it's not like I'm Kaiser." Uttering a meme Lucky wouldn't understand, Chumley drew a card, then proceeded to Set three cards in his Back Row: "I Set three cards in the Back Row. The monster I will summon is this one."

The card Chumley played made Lucky laugh with just a glance. "Hahaha, you know my (Launcher Spider) has powerful ATK, yet you dare to summon a monster in Attack Position? I thought dueling with you, kid, would be a good way to relieve boredom, but this is truly disappointing."

[(Noble Knight Artorigus)] [Level 4/LIGHT Attribute] [Warrior-Type/Normal Monster] [1800 ATK/1800 DEF]

"You can't say that, Mr. Lucky. I believe that when facing difficulties, one must bravely confront them," Chumley said with a slight smile, offering no further explanation. "My turn ends~"

[Chumley: Hand 5 → 6 → 2]

"My turn. Haha, it looks like this game is about to end!" Lucky drew a card, glanced at it, and then chuckled. "Since you willingly chose to be attacked, then I'll grant your wish. My beloved, (TM-1 Launcher Spider), declare an attack!"

"Well, due to the enormous ATK difference, my (Noble Knight Artorigus) will be destroyed by (Launcher Spider), and I will take 1800 points of damage from the difference." Chumley sent the destroyed (Noble Knight Artorigus) to the Graveyard, but his expression was so calm that it made one wonder who was actually at a disadvantage.

[Chumley: 2000 LP → 200 LP]

"Aren't you at all worried about your Life Points?" Lucky stared at Chumley with a strange look.

"Of course I'm nervous. After all, my Life Points are like a flickering candle in the wind right now, and Mr. Lucky, your Life Points are even 1000% of mine." Chumley then unhurriedly flipped over one of his Set cards. "However, I did Set this card."

" (Damage Vaccine Ω MAX)?" Lucky had never seen this card before.

"This card's effect states that it can only be activated after I take damage by any means. No matter how much damage I take, I can recover Life Points equal to the damage sustained," Chumley explained. "Because of (Launcher Spider)'s attack, I took 1800 points of damage, so now I will also recover 1800 Life Points."

[Chumley: 200 LP → 2000 LP]

"What kind of broken card is that?! Doesn't that make you impossible to defeat?!" Watching the damage he had just dealt disappear, Lucky felt extremely annoyed. As a murderer, he thoroughly enjoyed the damage brought by destruction, but if the damage caused by destruction was disregarded, he found it extremely unpleasant.

"Not exactly. (Damage Vaccine)'s recovery happens after the damage is dealt. If I had taken just a little more damage, I would have lost." Chumley smiled. "It truly was 'Lucky'."

"You brat. Hmph, My Turn End—"

"Before your End Turn, Mr. Lucky, I still have two card effects to activate." Chumley interrupted Lucky's End Turn declaration, flipping over both cards on his Field.

"First I activate this card, then I activate this card. The effect of the latter card resolves first." Because the concept of a "Chain" didn't even exist in this era, Chumley changed his wording. "(Time Machine), I can revive one monster that was destroyed this turn."

"Come back, (Noble Knight Artorigus)!"

[(Noble Knight Artorigus)] [1800 ATK]

"Damn it, so that means I just did absolutely nothing?!" Lucky was in an incredibly foul mood now. In this one turn, the damage he dealt was recovered, the monster he destroyed was revived, and he had essentially done nothing but consume two of that brat's cards.

"Not exactly. Didn't you also summon three powerful monsters, Mr. Lucky?" Chumley smiled.

Lucky looked bewildered. "What powerful monsters? I clearly didn't summon any monsters."

"You didn't summon them yourself, but I helped you summon them with this card," Chumley said, pointing to the card whose effect he hadn't activated yet. "(Ojama Trio). Its effect is to send three nuisances to the opponent's Field and not let them come back."

From Lucky's unseen perspective, within the card art of the (Ojama Trio) that Chumley had flipped, the three awakened card spirits—the (Ojama Trio)—were thrown out, carrying bags and luggage. Flying through the air, the three spirits continued bickering, yelling "Big Bro~!" "Big Bro!"

"It's truly a relief to be free of those annoying burdens." Looking at the three pesky spirits that had been sent to Lucky's Field, Chumley's smile was incredibly genuine; one could visibly see how much he had relaxed.
