Chapter 260 -  Chapter 259: Ultimate Quintet

Chapter 259: Ultimate Quintet

Under the expectant gazes of everyone, the five Spellcaster-Type spirits on Hayato's Field simultaneously stretched out their palms, facing his opponent, Zhuzhao Zhi.

"Zhuzhao Zhi, Duelist of the Psychic Style, do you believe in gravity?"

"All things possess gravity. It is precisely because of gravity's existence that you and I meet here to Duel, and victory will also come to my hand because of gravity!"

One by one, five Spellcaster-Type cards were Banished from the Game by Hayato. With each card Banished, the Monster corresponding to that card transformed into an arcane Magic Circle that hovered in the air. When all five cards were Banished from the Game, only five Magic Circles remained on Hayato's Field. Immediately, these Magic Circles converged into a single point.

"I feel it, it's coming! I can already see victory arriving!"

"Hahahaha, don't blink! This is the last Monster you'll ever see!"

Hayato turned his hand over, and a Fusion Monster Card appeared between his fingers. He placed it in the center of the five Monster Zones on his Duel Disk: "LV-MAX! A supreme and powerful body! Descend, Ultimate Quintet Power! (*Quintet Magician*)!"

The powerful storm that had been accumulating for a long time was unleashed at this very moment. Amidst the surging, violent currents, a figure appeared, enveloped by the five Magic Circles. The instant (*Quintet Magician*) revealed its true form, the raging winds on the Field seemed to instantly halt, suppressed by the terrifying magical energy it emitted.

(*Quintet Magician*) [LV 12/DARK]

[Spellcaster/Fusion/Effect]

[ATK 4500/DEF 4500]

"Its Level is actually the highest, 12, even surpassing a God?!" Even Ishizu couldn't help but exclaim. "Although Level doesn't represent everything, a Monster with a Level as high as 12 couldn't possibly be weak, no matter how you look at it."

"Level 12!?" Zhuzhao Zhi's face also turned solemn, but he forced himself to speak, "Even with such a high Level, it's merely a Monster with only 4500 Attack Points. Even if it Destroys my (Psychic King) by Battle, it would only inflict 1900 Damage to me."

Hayato calmly shook his head. "Your premise is mistaken. That would only happen if (Psychic King) were still on your Field, wouldn't it?"

"When (*Quintet Magician*) is successfully Fusion Summoned using five Spellcaster-Type Monsters with different names, the Ultimate Quintet Power is unleashed."

"All cards on the Opponent's Field—Spells, Traps, Monsters—are ALL Destroyed!"

"What?!"

Ignoring Zhuzhao Zhi's incredulous expression, Hayato raised his hand and snapped his fingers. (*Quintet Magician*) synchronized with Hayato's action, snapping its fingers and withdrawing the magical energy it had previously released.

The currents formed during the Fusion Summon, now without (*Quintet Magician*)'s magical energy suppression, the fierce winds returned. In an instant, the sky grew dark, and sand and stones swirled everywhere, as if the end of the world had arrived.

(Psychic King) and (Psychic Reflector) simultaneously unleashed their most powerful psychic energy, attempting to stop the approaching storm. However, against this man-made natural disaster, the resistance of the two Monsters was utterly futile. The violent winds swept everything away. In a mere breath's time, the storm abruptly calmed down again.

However, Zhuzhao Zhi's Field had become as empty as the wallet of a spendthrift on the night before payday.

"Enter Battle Phase. (*Quintet Magician*) will perform a Direct Attack. Gaia Energy Cannon!"

Although the name of the attack Hayato used was "Energy Cannon," (*Quintet Magician*) simply snapped its fingers as it did before. A tide of magical energy surged, transforming into an invisible force that directly struck Zhuzhao Zhi.

"Urgh!" Although it wasn't a Shadow Game, the simulated impact from the Virtual Projection device made Zhuzhao Zhi cry out in pain.

[Zhuzhao: 4900 → 400 LP]

However, even though Hayato's single strike reduced his Life Points to merely 400, Zhuzhao Zhi began to laugh.

Although no one asked him "Why is the Prime Minister laughing?", Zhuzhao Zhi spoke to himself, "Your Attack ends there, doesn't it? No matter how powerful your (*Quintet Magician*) might be, it's still just an ordinary Duel Monster and can only Attack once. Hahahaha, what about your initial promise? A stretcher? Bah, what about 'ending the Duel this turn'?"

"Who said you can't defeat someone without a monster's attack?" Hayato drew a Card from his Hand and placed it on his Duel Disk.

"Although I currently have the (Soul Absorption) Card in my Hand, unfortunately, (*Quintet Magician*) has a mandatory Effect that prevents it from being Tributed. However, I activate the Spell Card, (*Goblin Thief*)!"

"I will steal 500 Life Points from you!"

In Duelist Kingdom, cards that simply "inflict fixed Damage" through their Effects, such as (Thunder Crash) or (Fireball), were not allowed. However, cards like (Just Desserts), which inflict Damage based on the opponent's card count, (Ring of Destruction), which destroys a monster and inflicts damage equal to half its ATK to both players, and Hayato's (*Goblin Thief*) were permitted. But in Battle City, under the New Rules announced by Kaiba, cards that purely inflict Damage were allowed.

A corpulent, plump Goblin, wearing a floral cloth tied around its head like a stereotypical thief from a TV drama, scurried in front of Zhuzhao Zhi, reached out, grabbed a ball of light, and took his last Life Points.

[Hayato: 2300 → 2800 LP]

[Zhuzhao: 400 LP → 0]

Due to its strong Resistance, (*Quintet Magician*) on Hayato's Field, which had not been Tributed, let out a sigh of relief. With an elegant snap of its fingers, it disassembled, transforming back into the five Spellcaster-Type Monsters it had been before the Fusion, and then gradually disappeared from the Field as the Virtual Projection equipment shut down.

Hayato glanced at the System. Because he had dueled twice in a row, the settlement from the Duel with Alba and this one were merged. First, there were the customary DP points, totaling 1000 points, no more, no less.

Although he had obtained an (Amanojaku's Curse) from Alba through Ante, the System's card drops were calculated separately. Alba also conveniently gave Hayato a Quick-Play Spell Card, (Limiter Removal), which is exclusive to Machine-Type monsters. Unfortunately, Hayato's only Machine-Type monsters were (XYZ) and a few Union Monsters he pulled from Booster Pack Openings.

As for Zhuzhao Zhi, while his Dueling skill was clearly much stronger than Alba's, card drops depended purely on luck, not strength. This guy left Hayato with nothing.

However, just because the System didn't give anything, didn't mean Hayato was left empty-handed.

Walking up to Zhuzhao Zhi, who sat on the ground unable to accept reality, Hayato had no goodwill towards the man who tried to climb over him. Without ceremony, he pulled the entire Deck from Zhuzhao Zhi's Duel Disk.

However, with Ishizu and Sheppard, people he knew nearby, Hayato couldn't go too far. With a touch of regret, he could only select a (Gravity Blaster) from Zhuzhao Zhi's Deck to add to his collection, returning the rest of the cards.

Of course, besides Rare Cards, the Puzzle Cards couldn't be forgotten either.

A delighted Hayato took the Puzzle Card from the unwilling Zhuzhao Zhi and then took out the three he already had.

Sheppard and Zhuzhao Zhi, both defeated by Hayato, were arguing about whether Cyber Style or Psychic Style was stronger, their words filled with aggression, looking as if they would fight any second. Ishizu, meanwhile, walked over to Hayato, looked at the Puzzle Cards in his hand, and asked, "Hayato, what's wrong with the Puzzle Cards?"

"Nothing, just bad luck, I got duplicates again," Hayato sighed, holding two identical pairs of Puzzle Cards in his hands.

"As long as you collect six Puzzle Cards, you'll know the location of the next stage of the tournament." Kaiba had indeed said this, implying that winning five Duels would fulfill the condition. However, after stacking all four of his Puzzle Cards together, Hayato realized he had oversimplified things.

There were a full six types of Puzzle Cards. Although Hayato held four, two pairs were identical, meaning he only had two distinct types of Puzzle Cards. Unlike the Star Chips, which were universal for everyone during Duelist Kingdom, collecting duplicate Puzzle Cards in Battle City was completely useless.

Hayato had initially thought that an afternoon would be completely sufficient time to collect the Puzzle Cards, but the high rate of duplicates made him recall his tragic experiences with gacha in various mobile games in his previous life.

"Ishizu, I think we need to split up now. You want to participate in Battle City too, don't you?" Hayato put away the Puzzle Cards, frowning as he watched Sheppard and Zhuzhao Zhi Duel, not for Puzzle Cards or Rare Cards, but for the honor of their respective dueling styles. He said, "If so, we can't afford to be slow in collecting the Puzzle Cards."

"Besides, I think—"

No sooner had Hayato spoken than a loud Dragon Roar suddenly echoed from the distance. Everyone else seemed not to hear it at all, but only Hayato and Ishizu had to cover their ears.

Zhuzhao Zhi and Sheppard's Duel had already begun. Sheppard hadn't clearly heard the Dragon Roar. He looked around, saw that Zhuzhao Zhi's expression was normal, and wondered if he was hallucinating.

Ishizu noticed Hayato looking at her and nodded, confirming she could also hear the Dragon Roar. Hayato nodded in response.

That roar sounded quite familiar to Hayato, and coupled with the fact that most people couldn't hear it, Hayato had a guess about the source of the Dragon Roar. Without waiting for Ishizu to say anything, Hayato hastily ran towards the source of the sound, waving his hand without looking back as he ran:

"Let's part ways here, Ishizu. See you in the Top 8!"

The first Yu-Gi-Oh! anime revolves around ancient artifacts, where the male lead and his rival (whose rival indirectly caused his father's death) are linked by fate, and the male lead's soul eventually returns to the Underworld.

The second Yu-Gi-Oh! anime features a lucky protagonist who is lively, dislikes studying, but inherits the will of the first male lead.

The third Yu-Gi-Oh! anime unfolds around a cool male lead. The protagonist's group originally had five members, but later another character was added. Members of the group played with vines and fire.

The fourth Yu-Gi-Oh! anime centers on a boy-next-door with a terrible haircut and his strange blue Spirit Companion. They gain partners as they battle and recover items that grant abilities. Many people were supposed to die in the final battle, but ultimately no one did.

The fifth Yu-Gi-Oh! anime focuses on Kensho Ono, who plays with small animals and has grand ideals. He joins an organization led by a second male lead. The boss's goal is to retrieve a pink-haired woman, and the plan is related to his daughter. The male lead can inexplicably Summon a certain requiem.

So, the name of this anime series is...
