Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Five Elements Seal

Fang Cang has one senior brother and one senior sister. His senior brother, Lin Yuanfei, is at the late stage of Foundation Establishment, and his senior sister, Shen Nianchu, is at the early stage.

On the competition stage, Fang Cang's figure moved like lightning, quickly putting distance between himself and his opponent. His hands rapidly formed seals as he muttered incantations.

In an instant, the wind-based power was skillfully activated. Visible wind blades, sharp as knives, shot toward his opponent in a flurry, like torrential rain and pear blossoms. Each wind blade cut through the air with a whistling sound, as though it could tear the very air apart.

His opponent, however, was no weakling and would not allow Fang Cang to wear him down from a distance. His gaze sharpened, and with a light push off the ground, he shot forward like an arrow from a bow, stirring up a cloud of dust as he moved at lightning speed. His goal was clear: to close the distance between them, preventing Fang Cang's ranged advantage from being effective.

Fang Cang nimbly retreated while continuously casting the Wind Escape Vacuum Waves. His hands flew through the air, sending wave after wave of vacuum blasts like cannonballs toward his opponent. Where the vacuum waves passed, the air was sucked away, creating temporary vacuums that hummed with a low, resonant sound.

However, despite Fang Cang's relentless efforts, the difference in their cultivation levels was clear. His opponent, with slightly higher cultivation, caught up with him in a short time.

Close combat ensued, and the two engaged in a fierce struggle. Fang Cang's eyes gleamed with determination as he threw powerful punches, each strike accompanied by a gust of wind, aiming for his opponent's vital points. His opponent was no slouch either, blocking with perfect defense while looking for an opportunity to counterattack. Their fists and kicks were infused with dense spiritual power.

In the midst of this intense battle, both continued using small spells to enhance their attacks. Occasionally, Fang Cang's fingertips shot out bolts of lightning, striking like a serpent. Meanwhile, his opponent summoned shards of ice from his palms, their cold light flashing as they blocked Fang Cang's assaults.

After a fierce exchange, Fang Cang began to feel his energy draining. His breathing grew heavy, and his forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat. He knew that if this continued, he would inevitably lose.

Seizing an opening during his opponent's attack, Fang Cang jumped back several feet. The moment his feet hit the ground, he quickly formed complex hand seals, muttering incantations as he did so.

Strange phenomena began to occur. Mysterious purple light emerged from the five fingers of his hands. The light grew stronger and, upon closer inspection, each beam of light contained clear symbols representing the Five Elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. These symbols intertwined and rotated, emitting an aura of great power and mystery.

With this newfound energy, Fang Cang shouted loudly, rushing forward like a tiger descending a mountain. His opponent, seeing this, immediately took up a defensive stance, his expression filled with both confusion and caution.

Fang Cang closed in quickly, and with a forceful strike, his right palm, infused with the powerful purple light, landed heavily on his opponent's chest. In an instant, a complex and ancient seal array appeared around his palm imprint. The symbols flickered and the light swirled, enveloping his opponent's chest tightly.

At first, his opponent was shocked, his face full of worry, thinking he had been hit by a deadly move. However, after a moment, he realized that his body wasn't experiencing the pain or chaos of spiritual power he had expected. Aside from the strange seal array on his chest, everything seemed normal.

Relieved, he scoffed and prepared to retaliate, believing that Fang Cang was only bluffing. But just as he gathered his spiritual power to strike, he suddenly felt his legs go weak. Before he knew it, he had fallen uncontrollably to the ground.

Panicked, he stared wide-eyed and desperately tried to push himself up. He focused hard, trying to gather his spiritual power again to launch an attack. Yet, no matter how hard he tried, his internal spiritual energy seemed to be trapped by an invisible hand, scattering wildly and unable to coalesce.

Fang Cang, seeing this, felt a flash of determination in his eyes. Without hesitation, he activated the Wind Escape technique once again.

This time, he gathered all the wind elements around him, and a massive Wind Escape Vacuum Orb quickly took form in his palm. The sphere was even larger than his previous attacks, its surface swirling with violent wind blades, producing a constant "hissing" sound.

With a low shout, Fang Cang hurled the massive vacuum orb toward his opponent. It shot through the air like a comet, bringing with it the force to destroy everything in its path.

With a loud "bang," the orb collided with his opponent, sending him flying through the air like a kite with its string cut, crashing heavily outside the competition arena and raising a cloud of dust.

The arena fell silent for a moment, stunned by the dramatic reversal. Then, a deafening cheer and applause erupted as everyone praised Fang Cang's spectacular performance. Fang Cang stood there, panting heavily.

"Winner: Fang Cang!"

As Fang Cang was leaving the competition arena, sweat still rolling down his forehead, he heard a calm yet authoritative voice behind him.

"Fang Cang, come here."

He turned around and saw Ye Qifei standing not far away, his eyes filled with admiration.

Fang Cang hurried over, bowing slightly in respect. Ye Qifei patted him on the shoulder, a smile appearing on his face.

"Fang Cang, well done! That fight really opened my eyes. By the way, what was that technique you used? It actually caused your opponent's internal spiritual energy to go haywire."

Fang Cang smiled modestly, responding respectfully, "Master, this is a technique I created myself, called the 'Five Elements Seal.' It's still a work in progress, and today it happened to work."

Ye Qifei's eyes flashed with surprise, then nodded in approval. In his eyes, Fang Cang was not only a rare talent but also humble and polite.

In daily life, even when facing disciples who were far weaker than him, Fang Cang was always respectful, never showing any arrogance. What impressed Ye Qifei even more was that, like him, Fang Cang was a rare dual-element cultivator. This talent meant that Fang Cang's future potential was limitless.

As for Fang Cang's background, Ye Qifei didn't care. After all, in this vast cultivation world, countless mysterious figures hid away with their own secrets.

During his time by Ye Qifei's side, Fang Cang had presented himself as a diligent disciple, all the while investigating everything about Yong Zhong City. Using his sharp insight and extraordinary methods, he had a clear understanding of the city's various forces.

Moreover, he had cleverly used his master's reputation to control several small forces. Naturally, these actions hadn't escaped Ye Qifei's notice. Every time he sensed Fang Cang's movements, he only shook his head inwardly. He wasn't unaware of Fang Cang's intentions but saw that the forces Fang Cang controlled were nothing more than a group of street thugs.

So, Ye Qifei simply turned a blind eye, letting him do as he wished.
