Chapter 37 - Dewpider

Evan's Journal

Month 2, Day 7

Location: Brooklet Hill

Time: 12:10 PM

I think I know who will be my fourth Pokémon. After I saw Dewpider, I threw Grip's Pokéball. As soon as he came out, he made a sound.

"Charr"

"Okay, Grip, thunder shock!" As soon as I commanded Grip, he shot a thunder shock at the Dewpider in front of him. Dewpider dodged the attack and retaliated with a water gun.

"Grip, dodge it, and again attack it with thunder shock," I commanded. Grip attacked the Dewpider again. This time, Dewpider didn't dodge the attack and got weakened. Seeing this, I threw the Poké Ball at Dewpider. After the Pokéball touched Dewpider, it captured him. The ball shook three times and then stopped, indicating that Dewpider had been captured.

"I have caught my fourth Pokémon," I said as I lifted the ball in my hands.

"Come out, Dewpider," I said as I released him from his Pokéball. A white glow emerged from the ball and landed on the ground in front of me, taking the shape of a Dewpider.

"Dewpider..." he called out. After that, he looked at me. I knelt to his height so that I could talk to him.

"Hey, Dewpider, sorry that I caught you, but can you be my Pokémon? I will make sure that you become stronger than you are now. How about it?" I asked while looking into his eyes and stretching my hand towards him like a handshake.

"Dew..." he replied while shaking my hand, his face bearing a smile. Without delay, I used the healing spray that Mr. Bramble gave me on both Dewpider and Grip. Thank God he gave me this; otherwise, I would have to use the money I had on me—$450, made up of $350 that I had with me plus the $100 that Dad gave me when I told him about this trip. I know it's not a lot, but I can't give more because I know he is poor. That said, I will bring him back something from Alola when I return.

Now that I think about it,

"Hey, Dewpider," I asked.

"Dew..."

"Have you seen any Wimpod in this area?" I asked while showing him a picture of Wimpod in my Pokédex. Dewpider looked at the picture for a few seconds before he shook his head, indicating that he hadn't seen any Wimpod around here. Sighing in disappointment, I started packing to go to the island trail to get my next Z-Crystal.
