Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Knowing that I was going to cut Ryoth's head off from the inside made me think it might be over for me. I still didn't know exactly what I was, or if I could survive the impossible. Sure, I was a paradox who would just come back infinitely, but I don't know how long that would be. If this failed, I might be too late to help my brothers fight him off. Callum was scared, while Callith was brave, one fighter who stood firm, while the other didn't know what to do.

Callum stood up. He finally came to his senses after I shared the plan with them. "Leon, what if we die in this fight? I don't want to die yet...only live my life to the fullest." Said Callum.

Callith gives out a hand, pulling him off the ground onto his feet. "I understood what you mean, but if we do nothing, no one will live to the fullest. Others will die while we stand here and cower." Said Callith.

He nods his head in agreement, holding his spear high in the air, then pointing it at Ryoth. "If I die, I want people to remember us as heroes! Thought after what we had done, we probably won't be." Said callum.

All three of us walked in unison to it, fast and ferocious. Ryoth charges at us on the ground. His wings folded in. Blades and claws swung at us, and in return was massive damage was cut into Ryoth. He regenerated faster than we damaged him. I ran to the side of his mouth, cutting the jaw open for an entry. The jaw was severely dislocated, allowing entry for easy access to the inside. From there, I could start by cutting into his brain, and finish off the head just in case.

I need them to do one simple task. "Both of you, hold his mouth open as long as you can! From there, I will lobotomize it. I'm going in!" I said.

Callith and Callum work together to pry open his mouth by twisting the head sideways and pulling the upper and lower jaw from both sides. When I get in, I feel for the softest part of the palate. There was a black, oily slit deeper into the soft tissue. I jabbed one of the axes into it, then all of a sudden, everything was shifting, closing in. I wasn't able to move very much.

Both of them yelled for me, Callum reacted in his hand to try and pull me out. I grabbed it and got pulled free of Ryoth's mouth. And all that was left were single spasms. "Did we do it?" Said Callith.

Callum walked way too close to the moving body. It wasn't until Ryoth opened up and bit him in the abdomen. Ryoth got back up, moving slowly. Both our hearts dropped along with Callum landing on the ground. It circles us, stumbbling, he laughed. "You are a pain to me! Why won't you let me carry out my plan? If you let humanity thrive any longer, then they will put an end to everything else. All of the other life won't get a chance before they die out themselves. I am not doing any of this to be evil, I am doing it because of how blind you are, God's negligence will let this keep happening, that is why I am doing this." Said Ryoth. "No, you're wrong, if you think for one that killing would stop more killing, then you are as blind as you think we are," I said.

I finish Ryoth off as he tried to get away, but a few more clean slashes into the skull ended it. I cut into him repeatedly, until most of his head was an unrecognizable mass of beaten flesh. He hurt Callum.

Callith checked on Callum, and he dragged him over to me. "Leon, Callum isn't moving, he won't answer, you think he's...?" Said Callith. I lowered down and put my ear to his chest, in search of a heartbeat...there was nothing. He was bleeding out of his stomach, and it wasn't stopping. I pressed on his sternum, trying to perform CPR, maybe if I try hard enough, we would wake up? "We need to stop the bleeding. Callith, you got anything?" I said. I pressed the wounds, all of the ones I could at once. Callith tried pulling me away. He thought this was over for Callum, but it wasn't. I can bring him back. "We can save him, we can save him." I cried. Callith did also. Both of us picked him up and hugged his corpse. Together, we were going to become real brothers...now it's just Callith and me.

The helicopter lowered to land as Ryoth was dead. Many people swarm around us, with guns. We just sat there, without a care in the world. "All three of you drop your weapons and stand up with your arms in the air." Said one of the units using a megaphone. Callith stood up and carried Callum over to them slightly. I followed beside him. "Hey! Don't move another step, or we will engage in fire! I repeat! Don't move another step, or we will engage in fire!"

Callith sets him down slowly in front of them, and both of us get on our knees and wait. " We surrender, don't shoot. Please, just help our brother. We don't want any trouble!" Said Callith. The team lowered their guns, and a few came with cuffs. One medik came, they put Callum into an ambulance, and they put both of us into a truck. We both had our heads down. The drive was long for a while until we were driven in a large plane. A while later, we landed somewhere else, it was sandy, but stranded near a heavily guarded base. As we entered the facility, they took Callum's body somewhere else and put both of us in a grey room, blocked off without but one window and door.

Callith sat across from me. I lift my head slowly. "I am sorry. If I let Ryoth live, if I teamed up with Callum, he would still be alive. It's my fault he's dead." I said.

Callith shook his head, gave me a reassuring look. "Hey, we both are at fault, but we also did what he had to. With Ryoth dead, all three of us saved humanity." Said Callith.

My hopes went up, as if I felt him next to us. "I feel that he is better place, he changed in the end, and so did we..." I said.

There long pause before he mentions one last thing. "The moment when I went to get him...the last thing he whispered was to carry on, and he was sorry for killing innocent people, that he wished that he had never wanted to harm his family. I think Ryoth corrupted him more than he did with us." Said Callith.

Then the door opened, and a man came in. He was wearing a military grade uniform, with five streaks on an Epaulette. "Hello boys, I am Commander Saquin. And I think you both would be a great asset to the military."
