Cheadle spun around, her eyes widening in shock.
"Chairman Netero! You weren't supposed to be awake yet! What…?"
Netero, looking refreshed and in high spirits, stood behind her, flexing his arms.
"This old man woke up some time ago."
"That's wonderful, Chairman! I'm so relieved you're alright!"
Netero nodded, smiling. "Thanks to that young brat, I've actually benefited from this misfortune."
Hearing this, Cheadle immediately noticed something amiss. The Chairman seemed much younger, and his aura was significantly stronger. The difference was stark, almost unbelievable.
Cheadle had never seen Netero in this state before. Standing beside him, she felt an overwhelming sense of security; the jovial old man before her was no longer frail and near death, but a towering, insurmountable peak.
Netero patted Cheadle on the shoulder.
"Leave the rest to this old man! The extermination team's mission wasn't a complete failure; they obtained crucial information without any casualties, didn't they!"
Netero's every movement and word now exuded an immense sense of security. Cheadle felt as if the Netero of his prime had returned.
After Netero left, Ging sighed. Cheadle, still elated, was jolted by the sigh, a premonition of trouble washing over her.
"Ging! What's going on with the Chairman? Wasn't the diagnosis that his recovery would take at least six months?"
Faced with Cheadle's question, Ging didn't know how to respond.
Revealing the truth would undoubtedly cause Cheadle to try and stop Netero. But it was too late; even if they could stop the Chairman, the fact remained.
After his battle with Loki, Netero was like a withering tree, suddenly struck by a strong gust of wind, its leaves scattering, accelerating its decay. For a legend like him, it was a rather desolate end.
"Ging! Tell me!" Cheadle's expression turned serious.
Ging turned away, avoiding her gaze. "Leave that brat to the Chairman. There won't be any problems."
A Chairman restored to his peak strength wouldn't have any trouble dealing with a single young opponent.
Ging's only concern was this: if Netero couldn't change Loki, and Netero himself couldn't make up his mind, things would become much more complicated.
'Let's just take things one step at a time,' Ging thought, leaving directly. Cheadle followed, persistently questioning him, but Ging remained silent.
Finally, Ging returned to his hotel, with Cheadle waiting at the entrance. Ging didn't come out for a long time. By afternoon, Cheadle sensed something was wrong and rushed into the room, only to find Ging had vanished.
Cheadle was exasperated; Ging was playing his little games again. And yet, these little games always allowed him to escape successfully.
News of Netero's recovery wasn't made public. Even within the Twelve Zodiacs, only Cheadle, Ging, and Pyon knew. Everyone else remained unaware. Only Pariston seemed to have a vague inkling.
After Ging left, Cheadle wanted to find Netero, but upon returning to the Hunter Association, Netero had also disappeared. To avoid leaking news of Netero's recovery, she didn't dare to search openly. She could only remain at the Hunter Association headquarters, continuing to handle matters in Netero's name while he was supposedly still incapacitated. Pariston, as vice-chairman, also held a portion of authority.
Three days passed quickly. On Greed Island, Loki released the individual whose neck he had twisted, the Fire Spirit behind him consuming the person's soul.
'Not bad!' Loki looked up, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
In three days, he had killed over two hundred Nen users. For Greed Island, that's roughly half the players. This includes those who had claimed game positions but weren't actively playing. In three days, half the players were gone. Nearly fifty players fled Greed Island in panic.
In other words, fewer than one hundred players remained on Greed Island. Excluding those unable to leave, only a few dozen players with some strength remained. Their reason for staying was simple: money. The deaths of numerous players resulted in many more cards, which could be sold to players aiming to clear the game, earning real money.
After retracting the Fire Spirit, Loki glanced at the terrified game players standing nearby. He showed no mercy to those truly enjoying the Greed Island game, choosing to simply ignore them.
Using Moonwalk, Loki vanished instantly, appearing at the pre-arranged meeting point with Hisoka and Pakunoda. He added the cards they had collected to his card binder.
When the ninety-ninth card was placed in Loki's designated pocket, a voice echoed across the entire island.
"Due to a player collecting ninety-nine cards in the designated pocket, the acquisition event for card number 000 has been triggered."
"A test will now be administered to all players: ninety-nine questions related to certain cards, one point per correct answer."
"The player with the highest score will obtain card number 000, The Ruler's Blessing."
"The test begins. Please answer the questions in your card binder."
The acquisition conditions were the same as in the original game. Loki had no idea what the questions were, as he hadn't obtained the cards through normal means.
However, he believed no one would dare to answer the questions seriously, unless they didn't mind facing his wrath! He answered casually.
Once the ninety-nine questions were completed, the island-wide announcement echoed again.
"Congratulations to player Yohane Kurama for obtaining first place in this test, with a score of thirteen points."
"Card number 000, The Ruler's Blessing, has been awarded."
Loki wasn't particularly surprised by the score, but Hisoka and Pakunoda exchanged strange looks.
Soon, a bird appeared from nowhere, carrying a letter to Loki. This letter was The Ruler's Blessing, the final card for the special card collection mission. Loki's mission was marked as complete.
But Loki didn't immediately check his system; instead, he prepared to head to the game's clearing point—Greed Island Port—to see the two other game creators.
Having obtained the final card, Loki turned to Hisoka and Pakunoda. "The reward for clearing the game is the ability to bring three cards back to the real world. Which cards do you want?" Loki's sudden question hung in the air.
