If they hadn't happened to encounter them, those people would have already become food. "Hisoka! Stop playing around and capture that thing!
If they hadn't happened to encounter them, those people would have already become food.
"Hisoka! Stop playing around and capture that thing!" Pakunoda said flatly.
Balda and the others silently turned to look at her. They thought, You call this a game? This is a fight!
"I know, I know. It's rare to meet such an interesting opponent," Hisoka said, feigning regret. His tone only deepened Zazan's scowl.
"Mere human, you dare underestimate me! Once I capture you, I will savor your flesh," Zazan hissed. "You will watch as I devour you piece by piece."
Hisoka dug his ear and laughed. "Is that so? That sounds terrifying!" He pointed at Zazan. "But I'm sorry, I can't continue playing with you. I have to take you back; otherwise, someone might get impatient."
Zazan frowned slightly. "Are there other humans nearby?"
"Excellent! After I kill you, I'll find all the nearby humans and devour them all."
Touching the wound on her face, she added, "You dared injure my face. I will kill one hundred, one thousand humans to vent my rage!"
Zazan's declaration was terrifying. What kind of monster was this, possessing human characteristics yet hunting humans for food?
Although they had temporarily escaped danger, Balda, Ponzu, and their other companion were shaken by Zazan's words, their bodies trembling involuntarily.
"Too slow, Hisoka."
A gentle breeze swept by, time seeming to slow. A figure, cloaked in white, descended from the sky, their crimson hair flowing gently.
Their calm voice brought an unexpected stillness, dispelling fear and anxiety. The world seemed to brighten, bathed in warm sunlight, a scene of peace and tranquility.
Balda and the others felt this serenity.
But Zazan froze. As a Chimera Ant, she possessed an innate sensitivity to all living things. From birth, she had never felt danger. But now, a look of shock crossed her face. An overwhelming sense of crisis enveloped her, like an inescapable shadow.
'What… what is this?' she thought. 'This despair… this hopeless aura… how can a human possess it?' Zazan looked up at the figure descending from the sky.
From the moment Zazan gained consciousness and saw beings other than Chimera Ants, she understood. Regardless of the creature, in front of her and other Chimera Ants, there was an insurmountable difference in the level of life.
Chimera Ants had risen above all other lifeforms, standing at the top of the food chain. Even humans were only a mildly threatening species.
But now, Zazan's gaze locked onto Loki. This seemingly young human, a child by human standards, had surpassed her, surpassing the current life level of the Chimera Ants, standing at the very pinnacle. It was an insurmountable height, at least for Zazan. This human could crush her like an ant.
'I never imagined such a being existed among humans,' Zazan thought. 'My pride, my power, is meaningless before this human. I have no chance of resistance.' This was the reason for Zazan's instinctive fear.
She stood motionless, staring at Loki, causing Hisoka to halt his attack, standing silently to the side. Pakunoda and Baise slowly approached Loki. Balda, Ponzu, and the other survivor were completely bewildered.
A child had suddenly appeared from the sky, the monster had stopped moving, and the powerful Hunter had retreated, seemingly unwilling to fight.
The two women also approached the child. Could this child be the leader of this group? Balda found it hard to believe.
A Hunter as strong as Hisoka, along with two powerful women, were all this child's subordinates? At such a young age, could he be even stronger than Hisoka?
The three survivors exchanged confused glances. They were even more puzzled by Zazan's sudden stillness.
A moment ago, she was about to kill all the humans, but this child's arrival had stopped her completely, her aura calming.
Loki walked up to Zazan, gazing up at her for a few seconds before smiling.
"Finally," he murmured, glancing at Hisoka. "You made me wait too long, Hisoka."
Hisoka shrugged.
"Can't blame me. This creature was too interesting. It's not human, yet it possesses human characteristics."
"That's why I told you the enemy would be special. I wanted you to bring back the strongest one."
This scene left Balda and the others speechless. They were thinking, 'Hey, hey, hey! Didn't you forget something?
That monster is still behind you! Is it really wise to stand there with your back to it? If it attacks, that kid is dead!'
Why had the child's arrival stopped the fight? The three survivors looked at Hisoka, believing him to be the strongest among them.
While Loki seemed powerful, his age made them doubt his strength. Even as a Nen user, a child couldn't possibly possess immense power.
Moreover, Balda sensed no strong Nen flow from Loki; he seemed like an ordinary child.
Just as they were thinking this, Zazan's eyes narrowed.
'This human might be the King of Humanity!' she thought. 'Then, if I kill him… humanity will be no match for us.'
Her tail swayed slightly, her gaze turning sharp.
'Humans lack keen senses,' she thought. 'He won't be able to defend against a surprise attack from behind. Die, King of Humanity!!'
Swish! Her scorpion tail lashed out, aiming for Loki's neck. The sharp barb gleamed menacingly.
Balda and the others' eyes widened in shock.
'No! The monster is attacking!' "Kid—"
Before he could finish, the tail, upon contacting Loki, shattered with a crack! A sudden burst of Nen destroyed Zazan's barb.
The word 'heart' caught in Balda's throat.
