Lily's eyes sparkled with sudden excitement, like she had just stumbled upon a golden chance.
When Rachel walked out of the interview room, she accidentally bumped into her.
"Rachel, what are you even doing here? An interview? Does your boyfriend know?" Lily asked with a fake smile tugging at her lips. "If you want to be a lawyer again, your boyfriend could get you an entire law firm with just a snap of his fingers."
Her colleague, who overheard the words, froze for a second and glanced Rachel up and down before scoffing. "Lily, you can't be serious. Her boyfriend can just hand her a law firm?"
"Why would I joke about that?" Lily replied, pretending to be kind. "Her boyfriend is Jeffrey. In this city, getting a law firm from Jeffrey would be child's play."
The second she said it, laughter rippled through the crowd.
"Lily, you can't really mean that. Her boyfriend is Jeffrey?"
