Finn froze in disbelief. Had his words really worked?
At that moment, Jeffrey lowered his head, staring at his blood-stained hands. Her voice echoed in his memory, how she once told him his hands were beautiful and clean.
But she had no idea… how many lives those hands had already touched, how much darkness they had dragged through this cruel world.
"Yeah… I really have gotten my hands dirty," Jeffrey whispered, his voice low and almost broken.
"Master Jeffrey, your hands…" Finn quickly stepped forward, offering a clean handkerchief with trembling hands.
Jeffrey took it, wiped the blood away, and then, like he had already lost all interest in the man groaning on the ground, he simply stepped over him and walked into the towering building.
Finn issued a few quick orders to the guards before rushing after him.
Everyone who had seen what just happened felt chills deep in their bones.
