The car drove right past her without stopping.

They had broken up. From this point on, they were just two paths crossing once, now completely separated.
Strangers.
Rachel repeated this to herself in silence, as if chanting the words could numb the sting in her chest.
"Rachel, what's wrong? What are you looking at?" George's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
Quickly pulling her gaze back, she turned toward him with a faint smile. "Nothing. I have to go now. I'll see you later."
"Wait!" George blurted, stepping forward. "Where are you going? I can give you a ride. My car is just nearby."
Rachel shook her head firmly. "No, thanks. The bus is really convenient for me."
George hesitated for a moment before pulling out a sleek business card from his pocket and holding it out to her. "Here, take this. It has my number and my company address. If you ever need anything, just call me."
Rachel blinked in surprise.
