It was like he was discovering for the first time that she could be even more resolute than he had ever imagined.
She could so casually harm her own body, but when he saw the blood seeping from her, a chill ran through him, and every nerve in his body felt like it was on fire.
It was as if that shattered cup was embedded inside him.
The pain was unbearable.
Yet, at that moment, his suffering and anger only made Lauren smile. But with that smile, the blood from her abdomen flowed even faster.
"Don't you dare smile!" he panicked, fearing that her blood was flowing too quickly, too much.
Her laughter sounded like it was mocking his distress.
"Does this count as paying back a life?" Lauren whispered with difficulty.
She could feel the blood gushing out, but she knew she wouldn't die.
