Josephine leaned closer, her tone bubbling with curiosity. "I really think George likes Rachel. I mean, why else would he drive her home every single time after they discuss case details? I even checked, his place is in the opposite direction from hers!"
Kieran sighed softly, the tension in his chest easing. At least this girl wasn't secretly crushing on another guy.
Even though she'd said she liked him and wanted to date, a part of him still worried. After all, Josephine's past wasn't exactly spotless.
"Even if he does like Rachel, it depends on whether Rachel's interested," Kieran said calmly. "From what I can tell, she's probably not ready for a relationship anytime soon."
Josephine slumped in her seat, her energy deflating like a popped balloon. "Yeah… it's all Jeffrey's fault for hurting her so deeply. If I had known back then, I would've told Rachel not to get involved with him."
