"You could definitely find a lot of great women with your qualities," Rachel said softly, her tone heavy with a quiet sadness.
The scars from her past still weighed on her heart.
George parked the car at the entrance of the apartment complex where Liam lived.
Scratching his head awkwardly, he gave a shy smile. "Maybe I've just fallen for her," he admitted. "I think I want to take a chance."
Rachel froze.
Take a chance. She once thought the same thing when she fell for Jeffrey.
When he had begged her to stay, swearing he loved her, she had chosen to gamble everything on his sincerity.
But in the end, she lost that bet completely.
After dropping Liam off, George drove Rachel back to her apartment complex.
"Rachel, you don't need to feel pressured," he said quietly. "Maybe… in a few years, if you still don't like me, I'll give up."
Rachel could hear the kindness in his voice. He didn't want his feelings to become a burden on her.
