Rachel hadn't seen George for a few days and thought he had finally come to terms with everything.
But now, as she looked into his eyes, she realized he hadn't let it go, not even a little.
"I actually have something to do today," Rachel said softly. "I promised a kid I'd take him to the amusement park."
She felt torn. She didn't want to disappoint the little guy, but the lead George mentioned could be important for work.
Besides, if it helped uncover more clues, it might increase the chances of getting justice for young Li's family.
She could still remember seeing the unconscious child lying in the hospital bed, his small hand wrapped in bandages.
The image had stuck in her mind, and she genuinely wanted to help.
"Then let me drive you to pick up the kid," George offered. "We can talk about the lead on the way."
Rachel thought it over for a moment and finally nodded. This way, she could manage both without any delay.
She climbed into George's car.
