"I've already told you, I have no feelings for you anymore..."
"Is that so? No feelings at all?" He cut her off, his gaze sharp and penetrating, carrying a dangerous, unspoken threat. "Then who do you have feelings for now?"
She hesitated, feeling the full, crushing weight of his stare.
"I don't have feelings for anyone! Including Garrett Vincent!" Rachel replied firmly, not wanting to drag Garrett any deeper into this mess. He had already been hurt because of her, and she had no idea how he was doing after Jeffrey broke his wrist.
"Then why did you let him hold you?" he asked, his voice deceptively soft, laced with a cold suspicion. "When did the two of you become so... close?"
A wave of anxiety washed over her. She felt that if her answer displeased him, it would only bring more trouble.
"I... my feelings for Garrett Vincent are just those of childhood friends," Rachel admitted, choosing her words carefully. "Seeing him just makes me feel... guilty."
