The car pulled over on a stretch of Huaihai Road. Just beyond it lay a row of bustling, brightly lit street food stalls.
Jonathan Quintero instructed the driver to stop and got out of the car alone.
"Mr. Quintero, if you're looking for a late-night snack, I can recommend a few cleaner, more upscale places," the driver offered, concerned.
"No, thanks," Jonathan replied coolly, already walking toward the noisy, crowded area ahead.
To Jonathan, the street food stalls and humble snack stands looked incredibly shabby and unrefined. Under any normal circumstance, he wouldn't even consider setting foot in a place like this.
But today... his gaze swept the scene and finally landed on a specific, slender figure.
Amid the chaotic crowd, that figure stood out to him instantly—so fragile-looking, dressed in plain brown clothes with a simple apron tied around her waist. She looked completely different from the Lauren he used to know.
