Power Girl... I didn't think I'd meet a representative of the Kryptonian race so soon. And the one I least expected to see, either. Power Girl is Superman's cousin from Earth-2. I thought she wasn't on this planet yet. Initially, I expected to see Supergirl first, but as I found out later, thanks to Batman for the information, she hadn't arrived on Earth yet. But the information I received didn't mention the person standing in front of me now. Okay, let's figure it out…
"What happened here? And who are you?" the blonde asked, looking around with her super-gaze. "You... You have a very familiar face."
It seems that our heroine flew here because she heard the sounds of a battle that took place here with her powerful hearing. Was I too loud? I shouldn't have thrown ten bombs at the end.
"Hi, my name is Alex Reath, I…"
"Exactly!" the girl shouted loudly, interrupting me mid-sentence. "You are Alex Reath, I knew that you looked a lot like him, but even in my dreams I never imagined that it was really you. God, what to do?" She became nervous, thinking feverishly.
"Okay, WAIT STOP... Again. What are you doing here?" She brought her consciousness back to normal. "There was definitely a battle here, but why are you involved in it? As far as I know, you are a good person, a hero who saved people, and you live in Gotham, and this is Midvale, a fairly small town."
[A/N: She's a bit of klutz, right?]
Hmm, it seems that my heroism attracted the attention of not only ordinary citizens, but even representatives of the powers that be.
"I have a business meeting scheduled in this city. As for the rest... As soon as I arrived here, I felt like someone was following me. Wanting to find out who exactly, I stopped in this place, away from prying eyes. I didn't know who exactly might need me, and I didn't want to put other people's lives in danger. There wasn't a soul in this abandoned building, the perfect place. As a result, a crowd of people in black surrounded me and attacked me. I began to defend myself in every possible way, and as a result, this whole situation happened. Well, you can see the consequences yourself," having finished explaining, I pointed my finger at the unconscious bodies, without even bothering to look at them.
'You... You're not lying," said the super-girl, after listening to my story.
Apparently, while I was talking, she was listening to my heartbeat in order to find out whether I was telling the truth or not. Just like a lie detector. Only, this idea was a failure from the start. I have a skill - "Player's Mind", and it always keeps me in a state of absolute serenity.
My heart wouldn't have trembled even if I had lied. She was lucky that I never lie.
"But how did you manage to deal with so many people?" Power Girl asked, approaching the bodies of the League of Shadows. "And it looks like they weren't ordinary people. I've seen them before, they're trained killers!" Her gaze fell on my modest figure, and she began to examine me even more carefully, as if wanting to penetrate deep inside and find out all the secrets.
I don't blame her. Not every passerby could stand up to a group of assassins.
"How did you do that? And why did the sound of explosions come from here?" she asked in a tone that demanded an immediate answer.
"I had a good teacher in self-defense techniques. And he also gave me some interesting devices so that I could protect myself in case of danger," I said in a calm voice.
"And who is your teacher?" I smiled softly, making it clear that I did not intend to answer this question.
"Oh, and what should I do with all this?" She pointed to the pogrom I had caused.
"Nothing, just fly away from here."
"What? And leave these people lying here unconscious?"
"And where do you want to send them? To prison? They will escape from there as soon as they wake up. I myself do not intend to press charges against them, because it is pointless. Their wounds are not serious enough to die, they will take care of themselves when they regain consciousness. And about this building ... It is already abandoned, and no one cares about it. So, do not complicate your life. Understand, superheroes cannot always help, and they should not always interfere. There are situations where it is better to leave everything as is. And this will be the right decision." My words clearly caused confusion in her.
She was still a complete newbie in the field of superheroes. Too inexperienced, and I decided that a couple of small tips would help her. After all, it will not be possible to put the killers from the League of Ra's al Ghul behind bars.
Even Batman, when he beat them up in Gotham, just left them lying around, because taking them to the police would have been the height of stupidity. Since he couldn't kill them, he had to ignore them like that. Of course, you shouldn't act this way with all villains, but against an ancient organization of secret assassins, there really is no other way.
"Understand, not everything in this world is as clear-cut as it seems," I said, putting my hand on her shoulder, which made her flinch a little, but she didn't remove her hand. 'Someone who at first glance looks like a villain may actually be a good person. Someone who does bad things may end up with the most sincere heart. Of course, the fact that we don't know who is who doesn't mean we should do nothing. Everyone decides for themselves how exactly they should act in a given situation."
"And how do I know what's right and what's wrong?" She asked, looking into my eyes.
"There is no single answer to this, because everyone will have their own. You will understand this when you face such a situation. You just need to remember one thing: you should not judge a person at first glance or opinion, because he may turn out to be far from what he is. And of course, you should not let your guard down. After all, the one who looked and acted well at the beginning, can stab you in the back in the end."
"It's difficult …"
"Well, I'm not a superhero, so you can just ignore my words. But if you still decide to listen, think about them at your leisure."
"I think you deserve the title of hero more than me," said the blonde, smiling cheerfully.
