Chapter 83 - The Arena's Call

Scarlet's smile lingered for a moment before fading into something more businesslike. She uncrossed her legs and leaned forward, elbows resting on her knees, fingers interlaced. The lamplight cast harsh shadows across her face, accentuating the fine lines around her eyes and making her look older than her years.

"The rules are pretty simple," she began, her voice taking on the tone of someone who had learned these lessons through blood and pain. The worn fabric of her crimson robe stretched as she shifted forward, and Rhett caught sight of more bandages beneath—evidence of battles he hadn't witnessed. "The most important thing is that when you get there, you only focus on two things.

"One. Killing the person in front of you. Two. Making sure you don't get killed yourself. Simple enough for you boys?"
