Chapter 84 - When Heroes Fall

The words hung in the air like a death sentence. Through the window, Rhett could see figures emerging from buildings, moving with the resigned shuffle of people who had heard this sound too many times before. Some carried makeshift weapons—pipes, broken bottles, anything that might give them an edge. Others walked empty-handed, their shoulders slumped in defeat.

"But it's not two AM yet," Rhett protested weakly, as if pointing out the time discrepancy might somehow make the alarm stop. "Why now?"

"Maybe it has to do with Claudette," Henrik suggested. "I mean, why would Grand invite her and her army to this place? Couldn't just be for entertainment. There has to be something bigger going on."
