-Sloane Delgado:
After I changed into something more comfortable — one of the trillion pajamas Roxy bought me today — I stepped out of the bedroom and into the main room of the cabin. The floorboards creaked softly under my bare feet. The place was small but warm, like it had been waiting for someone to fill it. The air smelled faintly of cedar and smoke.
The living room and kitchen shared the same open space, divided only by a wooden counter with a couple of bar stools. A worn brown couch faced the fireplace, and a thick fur rug lay on the floor, glowing orange from the firelight. There were blankets thrown over the back of the sofa, mismatched mugs on the counter, and two old lamps that flickered every few seconds. It wasn't perfect — but it was cozy. Almost too cozy, considering what we'd just escaped.
