Chapter 479 - Chapter 480: The Nanny

Marcarita also felt her acting was a bit over the top, but since the play had already begun, she had no choice but to push through it.

She grabbed the front of Kaito's shirt and muttered,

"I just zoned out for a moment. She suddenly popped out and scared me!"

Kaito rolled his eyes. He thought, You're an angel. No matter how distracted you get, there's no way you wouldn't notice a human standing right in front of you.

The girl playing the ghost realized the two of them were completely ignoring her—even chatting among themselves. As a dedicated actor, she felt her professionalism was being insulted.

So she let out a furious scream and lunged at Kaito and Marcarita in a bizarre, contorted posture.

Marcarita was mortified and uncomfortable. She summoned her staff with a casual flick, pointed it at the ghost girl, and said,

"You're so annoying! Quiet!"

The moment she finished speaking, the ghost girl's movements froze as if someone had pressed a pause button. She was stuck in place without moving at all.

Her face still held its twisted, ferocious expression, but her eyes—which could still move—were filled with fear and helplessness.

Kaito flicked Marcarita on the forehead and snapped,

"What are you doing? She's just doing her job. Cancel your ability!"

Marcarita rubbed her head, her face full of grievance, mumbling,

"I just made her quiet for a bit. It'll stop automatically in five minutes…"

Kaito put his hands on his hips, looked at Marcarita helplessly, then snapped his fingers. The ghost girl collapsed softly to the ground as if fainting.

Even though it was only five minutes, being frozen like a statue in such a pose was pretty miserable. Kaito directly put her into a brief sleep—by the time the next batch of customers walked in, she would naturally wake up.

Being messed with by two gods in a row… this poor staff member really had it rough.

Marcarita drooped her head, feeling a bit down.

She had originally thought this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get closer to Kaito, but from the looks of it, she might've messed up.

Kaito glanced at her, then suddenly grabbed her hand.

Marcarita froze and looked at him doubtfully. Kaito said calmly,

"I'm afraid you'll keep causing trouble. Better if I hold on to you."

With that, Kaito didn't wait for her response and pulled her forward.

Marcarita chuckled happily and followed behind him obediently.

In her good mood, even the "ghosts" along the way looked pleasing to the eye. When one jumped out at her, she even waved and greeted it, confusing the "ghost" so much it wondered if it had forgotten to put on makeup.

The two of them wandered through the eerie haunted house as leisurely as if they were strolling through a park. When the final door opened and warm sunlight spilled onto Marcarita's face, she wasn't pleased at all.

Because she truly enjoyed the time she had just spent with Kaito inside the haunted house. The sunlight meant they'd reached the end—the ghost house journey was over.

She shook Kaito's hand and said with lingering excitement,

"Kaito, how about we go back in again? I'm not done yet!"

"Go play somewhere else. Once is enough."

The haunted house was built like a corridor, with the exit right beside the entrance. As soon as they came out, they saw Vados.

Vados smiled gently, walked over to Kaito, and asked,

"Did you have fun?"

Kaito shrugged and replied,

"It was okay—except for a certain tag-along."

The moment Marcarita heard that, she yelled,

"I'm not a tag-along!"

After bickering for a bit, the three of them went to look for the Grand Priest and the Omni-King.

When Kaito and the others arrived at the carousel area, they saw the Grand Priest and the Omni-King still floating around on that little white horse.

Today, the Omni-King had completely fixated on the carousel. He waved his little arms enthusiastically, having the time of his life.

Meanwhile, the Grand Priest's expression looked frozen in place—he resembled a sculpture more than a living being.

When he noticed Kaito, the Grand Priest stiffly turned his neck and forced out a smile uglier than crying. For the mighty Grand Priest to look this pitiful… it was quite a sight.

Vados and Marcarita both looked at Kaito—their meaning obvious: Go help him.

Cold sweat slid down Kaito's forehead. How was he supposed to help? Was he supposed to replace the Grand Priest as the new carousel jinchūriki?

Unlike the Grand Priest, he didn't have decades of "child-rearing" experience. Handling a hyperactive kid was definitely not his forte.

The Omni-King soon noticed Kaito standing not far away and waved excitedly.

"Kaito, you're back! Come play with me!"

Kaito waved his hands quickly, glanced at the utterly lifeless Grand Priest, and said,

"There are a lot of other fun things in the amusement park. Just playing on the carousel won't cut it. The park's closing soon—we should go experience some other attractions."

Behind him, the Grand Priest nodded furiously, his gaze filled with gratitude.

Finally you have some conscience. Not in vain I entrusted my daughter to you.

Don't be fooled by how much power he normally holds—only because the Omni-King doesn't care about anything. The moment the Omni-King makes a request, the Grand Priest must instantly transform into a full-time babysitter servant. He can't refuse at all.

Kaito had voiced exactly what he wished he could say, so the Grand Priest was starting to view him more and more favorably.

The Omni-King tilted his head and asked,

"Is there something even more fun?"

"Yes! Goldfish scooping, bumper cars—they're all great, perfect for you!"

The Omni-King finally showed interest. Under everyone's stunned gazes, he floated off the carousel and landed in front of Kaito.

The Grand Priest vanished from the carousel in a flash. He secretly swore never to look at that thing again.

After that, Kaito took the Omni-King around to try various attractions. And it was obvious—he had been cooped up in the palace for far too long. Once he started playing, he went wild. He could spend an entire day on just one game.

On the way, they ran into Whis and Beerus lounging in the food street stuffing themselves. They had really indulged today—when Kaito saw them, the two were still hugging piles of snacks.

The moment the Grand Priest saw them, his blood pressure spiked. His two daughters at least came back to check on their old father being tortured, but Whis? He was strolling around eating and playing with a cat as if he had no worries in the world.

In his fury, the Grand Priest confiscated all the food they were planning to take home.

Under their resentful gazes, the Grand Priest rolled his eyes and tasted the cotton candy he had just taken from them.
