Crystal Foster hesitated for a moment, instinctively looking up to catch Martin Riley's expression. As expected, she saw a flicker of impatience in his eyes. She felt like crying. What on earth was happening now?
And then there was Marvin Mitchell. Why did he have to stir things up? Did he have some kind of grudge against Martin? Did he really have to annoy Martin to be happy?
"What? I'm your brother, can't I even have a sip of your soup?" Marvin's words left Crystal with no choice but to reluctantly agree. She didn't dare look up at Martin's face, knowing it must be particularly unpleasant.
The meal was a tense affair, with everyone lost in their own thoughts. After it ended, Marvin waved at Crystal. "I'm heading to the lab. Let's go back together."
