Chapter 144 - Life imprisonment

Hyland Riley had no idea how long he had been waiting. It felt like his patience was wearing thin when the door to the private room finally creaked open.

He frowned and looked up, ready to lash out and demand why Sylvia Byrne was so late. But when his eyes landed on the white dress she was wearing, he looked as if he'd seen a ghost.

He jumped to his feet so abruptly that his chair toppled over with a loud clatter.

"You..."

"What's with that look? You look like you've seen a ghost," Crystal Foster said, her mind as clear as a bell, yet she feigned a puzzled expression.

She gently tugged at the white dress and twirled in front of Hyland, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Is there something wrong with my outfit today? Don't you think this white dress looks lovely?"

Hyland swallowed nervously, shaking his head in a flustered manner as he hurriedly righted the chair, avoiding looking directly at Crystal.
