They stood outside the cell, staring at Seraphina's lifeless body through the bars. Emerald didn't move to question the guards further, didn't bark orders for an immediate investigation.
She simply stood there with an unreadable expression.
The body lay crumpled on the stone floor, twisted at an unnatural angle. There were no visible wounds, no signs of struggle. Just death.
"What's the point?" she thought bitterly. The answers were obvious; Alia had done this, somehow, some way. Another message, another demonstration of power, another reminder that nowhere was truly safe.
But the 'how' kept eating away at her composure like acid.
Was Alia truly so powerful that she could reach into a heavily guarded prison and kill someone without anyone noticing? Without triggering any alarms, without leaving any trace? Or worse… had she planted spies within Emerald's own pack?
