Chapter 10 - A Delicious Treat—Enough to Reward Both Lovy and Little Snorlax

---

The smell of roast chicken filled the air. It was fragrant and mouthwatering—more than enough to reward both Lovy and his Little Snorlax for their hard work.

Although Lovy believed he had the ability to make money, his years of harsh life experience had taught him one thing:

Only the money in your hand is truly yours.

Right now, he'd only earned just over a thousand yuan. If he splurged recklessly and something unexpected happened, he'd have no buffer—no safety net.

Lovy had lived through days when he had less than thirty yuan left, having to count coins just to buy a steamed bun. He never wanted to return to that again.

Once he saved enough, he hoped to invest in raising his Little Snorlax properly—and buy a place of his own.

Renting meant uncertainty. One day, the landlord could just kick you out.

But a home of his own? That meant freedom. A space he could renovate the way he liked. A space that truly felt like home.

"If all goes well, I want Little Snorlax to live in a big house—ideally a villa. Once it evolves into a full Snorlax, it'll be way too big for a regular apartment. I'll even have the doors custom-made, so it can enter and exit freely. No getting stuck. No ducking under door frames. No squeezing through hallways."

Lovy had long since treated Little Snorlax as family. Naturally, all his future plans included it.

"I'll buy some artificial Pokémon feed. For Little Snorlax, I'll go with a mid-tier omnivore blend—can't skimp on quality. Let's go with the Gold Crown brand."

He browsed online to order Pokémon food.

These artificial feeds came in three grades—basic, intermediate, and premium—roughly corresponding to each Pokémon's evolutionary stage. The stronger and more evolved a Pokémon, the higher its energy needs, and the higher-grade food it required.

Most unevolved Pokémon could get by on basic feed.

But Little Snorlax was a Big-Eater-type Pokémon. It needed the higher energy density of intermediate feed to stay healthy and full.

The "Gold Crown" brand was mid-to-high-end. A single jin (500g) of omnivorous intermediate feed cost 25 yuan.

Technically, a Snorlax should eat its body weight in food daily—about 200 jin (100kg).

Luckily, the intermediate feed had high energy density, so 50 jin (25kg) would be enough to meet daily needs.

That meant feeding Little Snorlax properly—with quality food—would cost 1,250 yuan a day.

"Uhh…"

Lovy hadn't done the math before. But now that he had, he was shocked.

The money from his entire stream couldn't even feed Little Snorlax for one day.

His earlier decision not to splurge seemed very wise indeed.

Of course, Little Snorlax could technically keep surviving on leftover food scraps or scavenging waste. It could be done.

But that route risked malnutrition—and even food poisoning. Even with its tough digestion, eating garbage every day wasn't sustainable or safe.

Lovy couldn't bear the thought of letting his family—his child, really—go hungry, or survive on scraps, just because it had a big appetite.

But his current financial reality was harsh.

"Alright, alright... Let's go with a cheaper brand."

He had wanted to give Snorlax better meals. But it just wasn't feasible yet. He had to compromise.

Fortunately, the Gold Crown brand had a sub-brand: Silver Crown.

Same type of feed—omnivorous intermediate—but only 13 yuan per jin, nearly half the price.

It was cheaper because it used lower-quality ingredients, including offcuts and fillers. But it still met safety and hygiene standards.

That brought daily feeding costs down to 650 yuan.

If Lovy could maintain his current stream income level, he could afford to feed Little Snorlax normally—and still save a little.

Doing the math made him finally smile.

Online orders for Pokémon food took at least a day to arrive. But Little Snorlax hadn't had a proper meal all day.

He didn't know how long that had been going on before now. But now that he had money, he refused to let it go hungry for even one more day.

He checked the price for same-day local delivery: same brand and grade, but 15 yuan per jin—2 yuan more per unit.

If he bought 50 jin, he'd barely have enough money left.

"Am I really going to let Little Snorlax go to bed hungry tonight?"

He glanced over at Little Snorlax, who was curled up and fast asleep, stomach growling audibly.

It looked thinner than usual—clearly a result of long-term underfeeding.

Lovy couldn't stand it.

But then, he suddenly slapped his thigh as a thought struck him:

"Wait a minute! Even though the guild let me go, I still have half a month's salary!"

He quickly opened WeChat and, sure enough, saw a transfer from Hu Yue.

Amount: 800 yuan. A bit rounded—maybe just to make it neat.

The message read:

"Lovy, this situation was unfair to you. The guild and I owe you an apology. Here's 800 yuan. If you're planning to continue streaming, I'll keep an eye out for work that suits you.Life's full of challenges—most can't be shared with others. But Lovy, I believe in you. You've got this!"

Reading the message, Lovy felt a warmth in his chest.

Not many people truly cared about him in this world. He and Hu Yue had only met online. She recruited streamers; he needed a job. They'd never even met in person—only did a video call once.

Yet she still took the time to encourage him. That was rare and touching.

He replied:

"Thanks, sis. I've decided to go solo from now on."

With that, Lovy used the money to order 50 jin of locally delivered Pokémon feed.

"Now there's barely anything left…"

His balance dipped under 500 yuan again. The pressure started creeping back.

Raising a Big-Eater Pokémon wasn't for the faint of heart.

Who else's beloved Pokémon eats 50 jin of food per meal?

He'd just made a little profit from streaming, and before the roast chicken even arrived, he was almost broke again!

Still, Lovy didn't complain. He had made this choice himself.

From here on out, it was all about working hard to earn more. Pressure meant motivation.

Letting your family—your child—eat properly? Totally worth it.

With everything settled, Lovy turned to look at the one who'd been ignored during his whole stream—his Little Snorlax.

The little guy hadn't made a fuss. He'd just gone to sleep, peaceful and obedient.

His chubby body gently rose and fell with every breath. Just watching him felt like healing.

"No wonder birth rates are falling. Kids drive people mad like palace concubines. But raising a Pokémon? Now that's the life."

Lovy gently stroked Little Snorlax, eyes full of love. Its long bunny-like ears were soft, springy, and super satisfying to squish.

Even though the system had rewarded him with a new fame skill—Super Influence—after reaching Fame Level 2, Lovy didn't use it right away.

Influence Points didn't expire. He figured he'd wait until Snorlax woke up.

He tried lifting Little Snorlax onto the bed, but it was no use. The thing was dense.

"Average weight for Little Snorlax is 105 kg. Mine's been underfed for a while, so maybe 80 kg. Still..."

Considering Lovy himself was malnourished, it was no surprise he couldn't lift it.

He sighed and fetched a blanket, gently covering Little Snorlax.

After staring at him for a moment, Lovy lay down beside him.

Having this big baby nearby—feeling its warmth and breath—filled him with peace.

Before long, his eyelids grew heavy, and sleep pulled him under.
