"How dare you! It is clear that this decision is fake!" He said to everyone at the table "My father knows the law and would follow it at all cost, not minding the hurdles it could bring, Damon is a man of integrity" Leo firmly stated looming at Brown with so much disdain.
"Excuse me sir, I will have you know this very minute that regardless of everything you have just said, Lord Christopher categorically stated that after his decision, no one should cause pandemonium" Brown explained causing Leo to rush up to him in anger to beat him up but he was stopped by Brown's escort who had been standing outside all this while.
"Like I said Mr. Ethan, I am not the type of Solicitor that would be biased in my decision and certainly what I read out to everyone here is the truth and nothing but the truth. If you by any means lay a finger even one at me, then you would not only have me to contend with, but the entire Caser Elite" Brown explained in his usual confident tone.
"Leo, go back to your seat and let the man continue" Xavier pleaded. Leo took in a huge breath before going back to his seat.
Thelma had been watching the entire scene all this while and was shocked to know that Damon was giving out the entire affairs of the family to Damon. She looked around and saw the joy laced on Priscilla's face and it only made Thelma suspicious.
"Congratulation Damon Holmes, and as a leader, I will want you to know that the responsibility on your shoulder is very heavy, you carry a burden and thus you must be able to deliver. I must at this point highlight the reason why Ethan isn't worthy of the affairs."
" Ethan if you are listening to me, I want you to know that you disappointed me a lot and clearly you thought I was dumb to have not noticed that the so call wife you presented to me is staged act. I told you categorically what will happen if you do not bring to me a suitable wife thus, the consequence you have to pay"
"As for your beloved wife, the only reason aside winning at the lottery few months back that I would accept her into the family is because she is with child. To the rest of the family, I love you all and I will continue to do so even in death" Brown finished reading the envelope. There was silence everywhere as he finished, the atmosphere was so tensed that Thelma could feel the entire heart beat of her husband.
Thelma believed there was something suspicious about this whole announcement and she really didn't want to cause any more trouble as she was just new to the table and so her presence isn't acknowledged by all.
"And to back up my evidence, here is the footage of what you have just heard from me" Brown brought out a mini laptop which he had in his suitcase and placed it at the table. Switching the device, he allowed everyone of them watch as Lord Christopher spoke.
The doubts Thelma had were erased although not to the minimal but the visual she saw was evident enough to show that Lord Christopher had actually given the affairs of the family to Damon to run. She sighed something told her that there was trouble looming and it would be only a matter of time before this trouble revealed itself.
Priscilla's continuous smile was what irritates her a lot and also the fact that Damon might possibly use his power to do something drastic to her relationship with Leo. She didn't care that
he was leader, she would continue to stick with Leo and her son.
"I must admit you did well with the presentation Mr. Anthony Brown" a voice from the phone spoke to Brown who was table a cup of coffee.
"I know I am a good actor, there is no need to give me the compliments" Brown said with a smile on his face.
"I will have one of my escort wire you the remaining five hundred thousand dollars in an hour" the voice told him.
"It is no problem, I will be expecting" the voice hanged up and Brown turned on the television afterwards, checking out the daily news. He was going to be a millionaire in the next one hour simply because he pulled a string that perhaps no one, absolutely no one could pull.
Meanwhile, Ava is restless. Ever since the news of the inheritance in the possession of Damon, she could not help but feel something hasn't been done right.
She is heading back to her room, when she encounters Ethan on the way. He tried to walk past her, but she held him back.
"Can I at least have a word with you"
"There is absolutely nothing to talk about." Ethan replied and moved away.
As Ava stared at the direction he had gone, she felt strong arms encircle her and she turned around to see Damon by her side.
Damon holds Ava's hands and they walk to their own room. She dropped to the bed, thinking of how sour the day had turned out.
"There is something crucial that I need to discuss with you." Damon said.
Ava rose up from the bed to see Damon staring at her.
"Do you still love my brother"
Her brows furrowed, eyeing Damon suspiciously.
"Your brother is the father of my child" Ava reminded him.
"It still does not answer my question Ava. Do you still love Ethan" Damon asked with every word pronounced slowly so she could know how serious he was.
"Damon, why the question? I mean you haven't asked me something like this before." Ava asked.
"Because I love you"
Ava is taken aback by his comment "Love me?"
"Yes Ava, I love you. From the moment you stepped into my life there has been this change I have experienced and I must say that I am influenced by you in many ways you could possibly not have imagined" Damon explained.
