The students had made plans before the vacation, such as going to the beach or traveling with their girlfriends. The Occult Research Club also had plans: a trip to Hell—the Underworld.
"Let's go, let's go, to Hell! I've been looking forward to this for so long!" Irina said, hurrying everyone along.
"Irina, can you not say 'going to Hell' so casually…" Xenovia said, covering her face.
The group arrived near the subway. Rias and her familiars had been waiting for a while.
"You're finally here. Hurry up, or we'll miss the train." Rias said, urging them to follow.
They entered the elevator. Using a special card, the elevator continued to descend even after reaching the bottom.
"So… amazing." As the elevator doors opened, Irina looked in amazement at the huge underground space.
"Yeah, there's such a big underground station here. I've been in this town for so long, and I didn't know!"
Asia was shocked. It was surprising to learn about a secret floor under the station near Kuoh Academy.
"That's normal. You were clergy back then. How could you find a devil-only route? Angels and Fallen Angels must have something similar in this city, right?"
Arthas said, looking at Azazel, who nodded.
"Just in time." Rias said. A train whistle sounded.
A train-like vehicle approached. It was "train-like" because it looked different from regular trains.
The body was sharp, with a devil emblem… the crimson Gremory family crest!
"This is the Gremory family's train." Rias said proudly!
"So… amazing! This is the Gremory train? I wonder what the Underworld is like."
"The Underworld is similar to the human world, but there are differences, like floating sky cities. You'll learn more when we get there."
Rias said. Asia's eyes sparkled.
"Floating sky cities…? It's the devil world! I can't wait to see it."
Asia was curious. Xenovia, Irina, and the other new familiars were also excited. They had only read about Hell in the Church. They wanted to see the real Underworld.
"Alright, everyone, get on the train. We'll be in the Underworld in about an hour."
Rias said. They entered the train.
"It's easier to use a magic circle, but you're new devils. If you don't enter through the official route, you'll be considered illegal immigrants and punished."
"Miss, let me handle the formalities!"
"Reinald, long time no see. You're as energetic as ever."
A white-bearded old man in a conductor's uniform appeared. He looked competent.
"Hehe, Miss is as approachable as ever. Greetings, Miss's new devil familiars. I'm Reinald, the conductor of this Gremory train. It's a pleasure to meet you."
The old conductor bowed to Rias.
After greetings, the conductor took out a display and aimed it at Arthas.
"This is to confirm your devil identity. This train is an important way to enter the Underworld. If someone impersonates you, it'll be bad. In this day and age, it's terrible if a train is hijacked."
Rias had brought them, but the formalities were necessary. The Gremory servants were carefully selected, honored to complete Gremory's tasks. It was a rule for pure-blooded upper-class devil families. After checking and confirming everything, the old conductor let them pass.
About forty minutes after departure, Reinald's voice sounded over the loudspeaker.
"This train is about to break through the dimensional barrier. This train is about to break through the dimensional barrier."
"Oh, we're almost there." Arthas said, looking out the window. The scenery changed from darkness to a purple sky with mountains and trees.
"A teleportation circle would be easier, but we have new devils and Azazel. A teleportation would cause chaos. The Fallen Angel Governor's illegal entry."
Rias said.
The scenery changed. The train entered a town. The loudspeaker sounded.
"We are approaching the Gremory Main Residence. We are approaching the Gremory Main Residence. Thank you for riding this train."
"Wow! So many people! Are they welcoming… the President?"
After leaving the platform, the street was lined with maids, soldiers, servants, and a band. They were respectful and joyful. When they saw Rias and Arthas, fireworks and cannons exploded, and the soldiers fired into the air as the band began to play! Soldiers on wyverns waved flags.
"Welcome back, Rias-sama."
It was a grand welcome. Everyone except Akeno and Koneko was shocked.
Then, a familiar figure, the silver-haired maid, approached.
"Welcome back, Miss, Master. You arrived early. I'm glad you had a safe trip. Please get in the carriages. We'll go to the residence now."
Grayfia said calmly, avoiding Arthas's eyes.
