Snowpoint Gym is located at the uppermost part of Snowpoint City, enveloped by countless trees, with a perpetually frozen lake nearby...
That is where Gym Leader, Candice, trains her Pokémon. She loves taking her Pokémon companions to skate on the frozen lake, affectionately calling it her 'dojo'.
In the forest, Terrence who was leading the way suddenly stopped. He sniffed the air uncertainly and hesitantly turned around, "The Shieldon's scent... it's gone."
Just as he finished speaking, the sound of footsteps came from ahead.
The two immediately tensed, looking up to see a young silver-haired woman humming a tune as she walked toward them from the direction of the frozen lake.
The woman seemed surprised to encounter a child here. She gave Caleb a curious glance before brushing past him, her figure soon disappearing into the woods.
"It's her!" Terrence said with certainty, "I caught Shieldon's scent on her..."
Caleb didn't respond. He already knew who she was... That face, that hair color, combined with the name of this random event, made her identity obvious.
She was Hunter J... the leader of the second major villainous organization in the Sinnoh region, the Pokémon Poacher Team, second only to Team Galactic.
The Pokémon Poacher Team operated similarly to Team Rocket, illegally capturing all kinds of Pokémon and selling them to clients worldwide.
Seeing Caleb silent, Terrence was confused. He waved a paw in front of Caleb's face, "What's wrong?"
Caleb glanced at him, "Do you know Hunter J?"
"Of course. The boss of the Pokémon Poacher Team in Sinnoh. Why–" Halfway through, Terrence realized what was happening.
He stared in disbelief at the direction the woman had left, "No way… You're saying she's Hunter J?"
"Yeah." Caleb nodded, "Can you track her?"
"I can, but…" Terrence hesitated, "Are you sure you want to take her on alone? Given how Instances usually go, this Hunter J is definitely a mini-boss with insane strength."
"Of course not." Without knowing her exact strength, Caleb wasn't about to take that risk.
He paused before continuing, "This random event has a two-day time limit, meaning she'll still be in Snowpoint City for two more days. Let's find out where she's staying first, then call Officer Jenny and report her location."
Terrence gave Caleb a once-over.
Caleb paused, looking up at him questioningly...
Terrence clicked his tongue in amazement, "Didn't expect you to be this cautious. After the way you charged at Articuno, I thought you were just reckless."
Caleb: "..."
...
J was in a good mood today...
Not long ago, she had received a commission from a client obsessed with assembling a Dragon Army. The task was to capture fifty Dragon-type Pokémon.
With the twelve from Snowpoint City and others she had caught in different cities, the commission was now complete.
Once she handed these Pokémon over, she would receive an extremely generous reward.
But what pleased J even more wasn't completing this mission... it was the intel her spy in Team Galactic had provided... the whereabouts of the legendary Pokémon, Regigigas.
That was the real reason she had come to Snowpoint City. To steal the slumbering Regigigas from Snowpoint Temple!
Snowpoint Temple was located at the northernmost edge of Snowpoint City, embedded deep within the massive Coronet mountain range.
This ancient temple ruin had attracted countless explorers who were eager to uncover its legends. Unfortunately, when they arrived, all they found was an empty maze-like ruin filled with traps and aggressive wild Pokémon, making it extremely dangerous.
Faced with this, most adventurers could only stand outside the temple, too intimidated to enter.
"She went in…" Terrence stared blankly as J's figure vanished into the temple, muttering, "Is this woman insane? Who goes dungeon-crawling alone in the middle of the night?!"
Caleb mumbled, "This isn't the plot I remember..."
If he recalled correctly, in the anime, Hunter J didn't enter Snowpoint Temple and awaken Regigigas until after Ash arrived in Sinnoh.
Terrence shrugged, "That's normal. Not every Instance world follows the exact same timeline, right? Besides, the anime's plot revolves around Ash. Of course, things would only start moving once he shows up."
Then, he turned to Caleb, "So… are we going in?"
The two hid behind a stone pillar, staring at each other.
"What do you think?" Caleb asked.
Terrence looked toward the temple. A man's thirst for adventure and conquest stirred in his heart. He swallowed hard and admitted honestly, "I want to go in. This is the first time I've ever been this close to a legendary Pokémon."
"Then let's just… take a quick look?" Caleb was tempted too.
No man could resist such a mysterious allure.
Terrence added, "If there's danger, we run."
The two reached an agreement. Caleb released Lucario, Dragonite, and Mimikyu, then stepped through the temple entrance with Terrence...
An ancient chill greeted them. Though it was night outside, the temple wasn't as dark as expected.
The floor was made of hard frozen ice, and glowing stones embedded in protruding rocks reflected off the icy surfaces, illuminating the entire interior.
There was no sign of Hunter J on the 1st floor.
Terrence sniffed, "She must've gone down. If this world follows the games, Regigigas should be on B6."
"Wuu wuuu!"
Dragonite suddenly pointed at the ice ahead, warning them.
Caleb turned to see several defeated Golbats and Gravelers sprawled on the ground.
Terrence used Scout on them, then gulped.
"All of them are Level 50+ wild Pokémon… and they were one-shotted. Is Hunter J really that strong?"
Suddenly, a rumbling tremor shook the ground beneath them, sending loose rocks tumbling from the walls.
"Uh… maybe we should go back?" Terrence was getting scared.
Before Caleb could respond, Lucario tensed and turned around, just as massive boulders crashed down from above, sealing the entrance shut...
....
Meanwhile, in a Snowpoint City hotel...
A girl around 17 or 18 stepped out of the shower.
Her skin was as fair as milk, her long golden hair cascading down her back, exuding the powerful aura of a mature beauty. She walked over to the desk with her long, shapely legs.
An open book lay on the desk, with a folded section marked by handwritten notes. In the middle of the page, written in neat script, were the words: Snowpoint Temple...
The girl closed the book and turned to her Garchomp, a glimmer of anticipation in her eyes.
"Let's go check out Snowpoint Temple tomorrow."
