"What the actual fuck!" Blazar screamed, her voice cracking with panic as she stared at the phone screen.
"Why would they be looking for me?" she lowered her voice to a whisper, her hands shaking as she gripped the device.
Kael smirked, leaning back against the lounger with infuriating casualness. "Well, let's just say maybe they want you dead, or maybe they want to use you. I don't know."
"How could you not know, Kael? He is your father!" Her voice pitched higher with desperation.
"The emperor doesn't always tell everyone about his plans. Only his advisor knows," Kaelric said, his tone maddeningly calm.
"Eh... Can you... ask him why?" she asked, her voice small and hopeful.
"I tried. He gave me a cold shoulder," Kaelric answered with a shrug.
Blazar huffed, frustration rolling off her in waves. The weight of being hunted by an entire empire crashed down on her shoulders.
