Chiyu did not hesitate for a moment. He laid bare every one of "Hundred‑Plans" Kuro's plots, and the revelation made everyone's face drain of color.
Kaya, in particular, stared at the man in sheer disbelief.
Thinking back on everything he had done in the past, she simply could not accept that he was such a person.
Usopp, who had never liked the man, was equally shocked. The butler who always seemed a little strict yet cultured and genteel was, in reality, the brutal, blood‑soaked captain of the Black Cat Pirates!
Chiyu, however, cared nothing for anyone's reaction.
Pinned beneath his boot, Kuro was beside himself with rage.
"Damn it—who are you? How could you possibly know all of this? Was it Jango? Did that fool betray me?!"
In Kuro's mind, only Jango knew the truth of his feigned death, so the most reasonable explanation was that the navy had captured Jango and pried the secret from him.
Chiyu offered no explanation.
Yet from Kuro's own words everyone could hear the truth loud and clear: he was the Black Cat Pirates' captain.
A collective gasp rang out, and the crowd instinctively backed away.
The thought that they had lived for years in the same village as a serial killer sent chills down every spine.
Usopp's jaw dropped.
So this… is a pirate's true face?
To him, pirates had always symbolized freedom and dreams—yet the living pirate before him embodied only blood, cruelty, and savagery.
Just then Kuro roared,
"Sham! Buchi! Take Kaya!"
Two cat‑like shadows burst from the crowd. With cold smirks they seized the young lady, one to either side.
"Kaya!"
Usopp cried out, wanting to rush forward but frozen in place.
Kuro sneered:
"Release me, or the girl dies!"
Sham and Buchi—the Nyaban Brothers of the Black Cat Pirates—had secretly followed Kuro, awaiting orders.
The villagers of Syrup Village and the assembled marines gasped, yet no one knew what to do.
Only now did Kaya fully grasp that the man had harbored sinister intentions all along. Still, she neither screamed nor called for help.
Kuro barked again:
"Let me go! Do you really want that woman to die?!"
The onlookers cursed him but were helpless.
Chiyu's lips quirked upward.
"As expected of Hundred‑Plans Kuro—cunning, vicious, always plotting ahead. But if you think this will save your life, you're far too naïve."
He ground his heel into Kuro's chest, drew the Sandai Kitetsu from his waist, and in a flash of crackling lightning severed Kuro's neck.
A blast of thunder followed—half of Kuro's head and his chest were blown apart, blood and flesh scattering.
Kuro's eyes stared blankly at the sky, unable even in death to comprehend why this marine was more ruthless than he, a hardened pirate.
The crowd shrieked in terror.
In that same instant—
Soru!
Chiyu unleashed a Navy Six Powers step; while Sham and Buchi still stared, stupefied by Kuro's death, his cursed blade swept across the backs of their necks.
Thud, thud—
Two heads rolled, blood spattering Kaya's dress with crimson.
She screamed involuntarily, yet everyone else finally breathed out in relief.
Kaya was unharmed, and the three vicious pirates were dead.
People looked at Chiyu with admiration mingled with deep fear.
To kill Kuro without a second thought, and yet still rescue Kaya in the nick of time—had he misjudged by even a hair, the outcome would have been disastrous.
Sword and the other subordinates were already growing accustomed to their lord's methods: startling, but no longer surprising.
Nami exhaled and smiled.
Usopp just gasped for air, completely stunned.
"K‑Kaya… are you all right?"
Smeared with blood, Kaya knew Chiyu had saved her life. Holding back tears, she bowed deeply.
"Thank you, sir, for saving me."
Usopp hurried over, confirmed that Kaya was safe, wiped his eyes, and looked at Chiyu with a complicated expression.
"Th‑thank you for saving Kaya…"
Nami shouted at Usopp:
"Hey, liar! Now do you understand? What a marine is, and what a pirate is?"
Usopp lowered his head; his entire worldview had collapsed.
His pirate father had abandoned his family.
Kuro, another "great pirate," was a calculating murderer.
And the marine before him—terrifying though his methods were—saved the good and slew the wicked.
"I…"
Everyone could see his beliefs being reshaped.
Nami, still stern, felt a twinge of sympathy.
"I grew up without parents, too.
My adoptive mother Bell‑mère was a marine—the best person in the world…
Do you know her fate?
Arlong demanded 100 000 berries per head to spare us.
To save me and Nojiko, she sacrificed herself—Arlong beat her to death in front of us…
The pirates you think of as symbols of freedom are the butchers who destroy ordinary lives like ours.
Think it over!"
Usopp bowed his head farther, lost in confusion and despair.
Kaya patted his shoulder gently.
"It's all right, Usopp. Take your time…"
He looked up at her gentle smile, heart brimming with gratitude.
"Kaya… thank you…"
He gave Chiyu and the others a deep bow.
"Thank you for saving Kaya, and for showing me the truth about marines and pirates… I… I'll think about it seriously."
Chiyu said nothing, simply turned and walked away.
Nami waved.
"Bye! Hope you figure it out."
As they left, Onion, Carrot, and Pepper crowded around.
"Captain Usopp!
We could become marines, too, and protect our families from pirates like Kuro—wouldn't that be even cooler?
And you'd still be our captain—just like that marine officer!"
Usopp muttered:
"Captain Usopp of the Marines…?
That… actually sounds pretty good…"
Behind him, Kaya flashed a brilliant smile.
…
Sword whispered, "Chiyu-sama really is different with children… No matter how ruthless he can be, he uses every means—lectures and all—to set kids on the right path."
Nami nodded.
Chiyu replied calmly,
"What else would I do? He's just a child who lies and boasts; would I kill him? But if he chooses piracy later, he has only himself to blame."
Nami laughed.
"Always so principled, Chiyu-sama.
So—where to next?"
Chiyu glanced at the chart.
"Shells Town in the Yotsuba Island Region."
Sword frowned.
"That's the 153rd Naval Branch—ruled by Captain Morgan."
"I recall, my lord, you said you had unfinished business between him and Kuro…"
Chiyu nodded.
"Yes. Before faking his death, Kuro slaughtered every sailor on Morgan's ship, then staged his own death at Morgan's hands. But Captain Morgan now is no longer the man he once was."
Sword accepted this without question; their lord seemed to know everything.
Nami ordered the crew to set course.
"Cast off!"
…
Shells Town lay under Captain "Axe‑Hand" Morgan's iron rule.
All inhabitants were treated as slaves—any resistance, even by a child, meant death.
Morgan had once been a passionate marine, but after the Kuro incident his mind twisted. Now he was more brutal than any pirate.
His son Helmeppo, only fourteen or fifteen, was already an arrogant terror, roaming the streets with his pet wolf and having it maul anyone who failed to kneel.
The father and son had turned Shells Town into their playground—and the citizens' living hell.
After Chiyu, Sword, and Nami landed, they soon witnessed the pair's cruelty. Sword clenched his fists.
"Now I understand why Chiyu-sama came…
Even Captain Nezumi only took bribes and let pirates oppress people— but Captain Morgan is the monster himself. He deserves death!"
He was no longer shocked by such judgments—Chiyu's strength, rank, and the tacit approval of Admiral Akainu meant that even the entire East Blue could be cleansed at will.
For Chiyu, though, none of that mattered; he acted solely on his own will—and his will was everything.
Suddenly a shrill, arrogant whistle pierced the air.
Helmeppo charged through, laughing maniacally, his wolf tearing at townsfolk—especially children.
The marines gritted their teeth as the wolf lunged at a little girl.
A razor‑sharp sword wave flashed—
Bang!
The wolf was cleaved in two, blood splashing.
"W‑who did that?!
You killed my wolf!
My old man will never let you live!"
Chiyu's cold gaze told him the boy was beyond saving. Sword wondered whether their lord would kill a child, but—
Nami suddenly shouted, rushed in, and with her staff—
CRACK!
She smashed Helmeppo square on the crown. He toppled, dead before he felt the pain.
Dead silence gripped the street—then screams:
"Helmeppo's dead!
Captain Morgan will kill us all!
Run!"
Nami stood over the corpse, unafraid, breathing hard as childhood memories surfaced. Sword and the others were stunned.
"Nami, you—"
She snorted.
"He was beyond saving. I didn't want to trouble Chiyu-sama—since he was a kid, I settled it myself."
Chiyu was slightly moved; Nami's decisiveness still surprised him.
Yet even a child who committed such crimes would have faced his blade.
Chaos erupted. A towering figure landed like a god of wrath—metal jaw, right arm, an enormous axe: Captain Morgan himself, flanked by dozens of marines.
He glanced at his son's body; his face went deathly pale, blood seeming to seep from every pore.
"Who did this?!"
He did not love his son, but no one could challenge his authority.
Nami, shaken, gripped her staff and forced herself to speak.
"I… I did it!
What are you going to do?!"
Morgan answered with action, stomping forward and swinging the axe down to cleave her in two.
The townspeople screamed and covered their eyes.
Boom—
The expected bloodbath never came. Peeking through their fingers, they saw an incredible sight:
Morgan's axe hung in mid‑air, unable to fall. A lightning‑wreathed longsword pierced his chest, paralyzing him with crackling energy.
BOOM!
Thunder exploded, blasting a huge hole through his torso. Blood sprayed; flesh flew.
"Th‑that's…
Captain Morgan!"
Branch 153's marines shrieked.
Morgan, not yet dead, rasped:
"You… you are…?"
"Uchiha Chiyu."
Realization flickered in Morgan's eyes.
"Uchiha… Chiyu…
So you're the one cleansing the entire East Blue…
You killed Captain Nezumi, destroyed Arlong, destroyed Krieg…"
Nami added sharply:
"And the Black Cat Pirates!"
At the name, Morgan managed a twisted smile—relief, rage, and despair mingling.
"Good…
Good…"
The giant body finally crashed to the ground, dead.
Only then did the townspeople grasp what had happened. Seeing father and son lying dead, they understood—
The nightmarish darkness was over.
Captain Morgan was dead.
The man before them was the marine hero who vowed to purge every evil from East Blue:
Uchiha Chiyu.
With a roar like a tide the townsfolk fell to their knees, kowtowing in gratitude.
"Thank you, Chiyu-sama!"
"Thank you for saving us!"
Sword felt a pang: Chiyu's reputation had spread like wildfire—most of East Blue now knew his name.
He glanced at Morgan's corpse. The once‑righteous marine had been twisted by the Kuro incident; hearing that Kuro was dead might have granted him a shred of comfort at the end.
Regardless, Chiyu's blade never wavered.
Sword stepped forward and proclaimed:
"Captain Chiyu has executed the heinous Captain Morgan!
If you value your lives, surrender at once!"
The branch marines threw down their weapons without hesitation—after all, they too had been oppressed by Morgan.
"Good," Chiyu said.
Dusting the matter from his hands as though brushing away leaves, he turned to depart. Nami folded her staff.
"Chiyu-sama, where to next?"
"The Organ Island—Orange Town."
Nami's face went white; she trembled.
"O‑Orange Town…"
Sword frowned.
"What's wrong, Nami? You weren't afraid of Arlong—why fear a tiny town?"
She quavered:
"That's where the Buggy Pirates lurk…
I pretended to join them, then stole their Grand Line chart and ran…
If Captain Buggy sees me again—"
Sword smiled wryly.
"I see. But it's no big deal—Chiyu-sama will wipe that crew out too."
Nami shook her head.
"Buggy isn't ordinary. He ate a Devil Fruit—his powers are bizarre and terrifying…"
Chiyu said calmly:
"And more than that—
He was once…"
"A crew member on Pirate King Gol D. Roger's ship."
Everyone was thunderstruck.
"T‑the Pirate King's… crew?!"
