Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

The morning sun streamed through the windows of Daichi's room at Totsuki Resort, casting a golden glow across the pristine white sheets. He sat up, stretching his arms above his head, feeling the excitement of a new day.

'Today is the day,' he thought, his heart racing with anticipation. 'My first day at Totsuki Academy.'

"Ding~ New Quest Available: [First Day at Totsuki]

Objective: Complete your first day of classes at Totsuki Academy

Reward: [Academy Knowledge] skill

Time Limit: 1 day"

Daichi's eyes lit up with determination. 'I won't let this chance slip away!'

He quickly dressed in his new uniform, the crisp fabric feeling strange against his skin. 'So this is what it feels like to be a student at Totsuki,' he mused, adjusting his tie.

As he made his way to the dining hall, he couldn't help but marvel at the grandeur of the resort. 'Everything here is designed to inspire greatness,' he thought, taking in the elegant architecture.

The dining hall was already bustling with students, their conversations filling the air with excitement. Daichi found a seat near the window, watching as students filed in, each one carrying the weight of their culinary dreams.

'So many talented chefs in training,' he thought, feeling a mix of awe and determination. 'I'll have to work harder than ever to stand out.'

As he ate his breakfast, he noticed a group of students gathered around a notice board. Curious, he made his way over, his heart skipping a beat as he read the announcement.

"First-year students will participate in a cooking assessment today," the notice read. "Prepare your best dish to showcase your skills."

'An assessment already?' Daichi's mind raced. 'I need to think of something impressive!'

"Ding~ New Quest Available: [First Assessment]

Objective: Impress the judges with your cooking

Reward: [Assessment Success] skill

Time Limit: 3 hours"

'This is my chance to show what I've learned from André,' he thought, determination filling his heart. 'I won't let him down!'

The morning passed in a blur of preparation. Daichi focused on every detail, every ingredient, every technique. This was his chance to prove himself, and he wouldn't waste it.

As the assessment began, Daichi felt a calm settle over him. 'This is what I've been training for,' he thought, his hands moving with practiced precision.

The judges' expressions were unreadable as they tasted his dish, but Daichi remained confident. He had given it his all, and that was all that mattered.

"Ding~ Quest Complete: [First Assessment]

Reward: [Assessment Success] skill obtained

New Skill Unlocked: [Judges' Approval]"

'This is just the beginning,' Daichi thought, watching the other students present their dishes. 'I have so much more to learn, so many more challenges to face.'

As the day drew to a close, Daichi felt a sense of accomplishment. He had survived his first day at Totsuki, and he was ready for whatever came next.

The sun set over the resort, casting long shadows across the campus. In this prestigious academy, Daichi's journey continued, one dish at a time.

And thus, his path to becoming a great chef took another step forward, with each new challenge bringing him closer to his dream.

A week later, the rumors about Totsuki Resort subsided after Gin Dojima himself came out to explain.

Totsuki Resort began busy preparations, occasionally receiving some seniors who graduated from Totsuki to prepare for the next residential training.

According to convention, the host and supervisor of such activities should be the chief chef of Totsuki Resort.

But Gin Dojima has been the one who came out since last year.

During this week, Daichi quickly played with the waiters and chefs of Totsuki Resort.

Everyone wanted to tease the smaller version of "Gin Dojima".

For Daichi, he became the most idle person in the entire resort.

Every day, he sneaked into the kitchen alone and watched a bunch of big hands in the kitchen of Totsuki Resort prepare ingredients for the next training.

For example, the soup stock needs to be boiled for eight or nine hours in advance.

In the past week, Daichi observed the kitchen from the perspective of an outsider for the first time.

He found that although each cuisine is different, the cooperation between the chef and each part has something in common.

No matter which kitchen, it looks very chaotic, with busy people everywhere, ingredients placed in a mess, and all kinds of pots and bowls are not even washed in time.

But after a week of observation, Daichi found that every kitchen has its own rhythm.

This rhythm often operates with the control of the chef.

This is something that Daichi, who could only be a screw in the kitchen in his previous life, could not find.

As he watched, the long-lost system prompt rang.

"Ding~ Congratulations to the host for obtaining the skill - [Kitchen Control (Green)]" (This is my kitchen!)

Note: This skill can only be upgraded by relying on kitchen experience.

After obtaining the skill, Daichi found that he found more details when he observed the kitchen again.

Taking Western food as an example, various departments are connected and coordinated in the kitchen.

A good layout helps to improve the work efficiency of the kitchen and even affects the quality control of the restaurant.

Daichi studied like this.

This week really opened his eyes.

Various cooking combinations, the placement of ingredients, and different spices and ingredients used to make different flavors of cooking.

Strange knowledge has increased!

A few days later, a waiter came to Daichi's room and told him that he couldn't go to the hall tomorrow morning because the training would start.

If he was interested, he could go to the monitoring room to watch.

Daichi was of course interested!

In the residential training, not only can you see the seniors in the culinary industry, but also the outstanding students of this year.

The most important thing is that the judges are fully qualified to eliminate those they think are unqualified without anyone's consent.

In Totsuki Academy, failure means dropping out.

Totsuki will not recognize your experience of studying in the advanced department.

It will have a significant impact on your future career as a chef.

Early the next morning, Daichi ran to the monitoring room and saw Gin Dojima, who he hadn't seen for a long time.

He was sitting on a high-end sofa watching buses coming down the mountain.

Daichi sat on the sofa next to Gin Dojima.

There were several files on the coffee table, one of which looked familiar to Daichi.

The photo on the file looked like a gentle woman with squinting eyes.

Thinking back, Daichi suddenly remembered who this person was.

She was a graduate of the 80th term of Totsuki Academy, and graduated with the second place in the Totsuki Ten Outstanding Students.

She was the owner and chef of the Japanese restaurant Mist House.

"The Queen of the Mist" - Inui Hinatako.

But now, she is just a student who has just been promoted to the senior department.

She is about to face Totsuki's first elimination match - residential training.

Dojima Gin suddenly said: "Daichi, watch carefully and study hard.

This opportunity is rare.

Totsuki has produced many good seedlings in the past two years."

Daichi nodded.

At this time, the lobby manager of Totsuki Resort knocked on the door and walked in.

First, he smiled at Daichi, and then said to Gin Dojima seriously: "Chef, it's time to get ready."

Gin Dojima stood up and straightened the wrinkles on his suit.

He rubbed Daichi's head, and it seemed a little prickly, but he soon let go.

Then he followed the manager away.

A few minutes later, a waiter came in with a tray.

He poured a glass of milk for Daichi, put down a fruit plate and left.

Daichi curled up in the sofa and prepared to watch the show.

This was much more enjoyable than watching a movie.

The screen was large and the picture quality was high.

It can only be said that Totsuki still has money and can buy expensive things.

On the other hand, Totsuki's bus has been parked in the parking lot.

Groups of students gathered in the square and pushed open the door according to the signs.

As soon as you enter the door, you will see an extremely luxurious hall.

The combination of red and gold makes the whole hall look particularly noble.

The representative sent by Totsuki Academy is the old Japanese sushi chef, Teacher Noto Mamiko.

Noto Mamiko spoke first.

She just stood on the stage, and the originally heated discussion in the audience gradually disappeared.

After Noto Mamiko finished talking about the necessary rules of residential training, Gin Dojima made a brilliant appearance.

The oppressive feeling brought by his strong body and serious expression made the people in the audience a little breathless.

Gin Dojima began his speech and introduced the rules.

"This residential training will last for 6 days and 5 nights.

Different assessments will be set every day.

If you fail the assessment, you will be immediately sent back to Totsuki and expelled."

"Next, everyone in the audience will be divided into groups for assessment.

The content of the assessment will be determined by the examiner.

The passing standard will be determined by the examiner himself.

It can be reasonable."

Then Noto Mamiko came forward to divide the groups.

And expressed gratitude to the graduates who were willing to come to serve as examiners.

Then a group of graduates who have already established a foothold in the culinary industry and even achieved something lined up in chef uniforms.

Everyone wore star-shaped badges of different colors and numbers on their chests.

Although their appearances are not the same and they are in different fields, the confidence in their eyes is the same.

This confidence is brought by more than ten years of cooking career.

Gin Dojima walked forward, and a smile suddenly appeared on his cold face.

He opened his arms as if he wanted to hug everyone, and announced loudly:

"The 80th residential training officially begins from now on!

I wish you all good luck in cooking."

After that, the judges behind him led their teams into the cooking classroom arranged by the Totsuki Resort according to their requirements.

They began to instill their own ideas.

Gin Dojima returned to the monitoring room.

He needed to do a good job of overall coordination and control to avoid accidents.

If accidents occurred, they should be handled in time to minimize the impact.

Just as Gin Dojima was looking at the screen intently, Daichi suddenly asked: "Uncle, what are the other stars on the chests of those examiners?"
